Summary

Two hosts of the "Fresh and Fit" podcast, Myron Gaines and Walter Weekes, have faced backlash for expressing a preference not to date Black women, sparking discussions on social media about whether this is an issue of personal preference or internalized racism and self-hate.

Abstract

The hosts of the "Fresh and Fit" podcast, Myron Gaines and Walter Weekes, have been widely criticized on social media platforms for their comments against dating Black women. The controversy began after a video resurfaced where the hosts, who are immigrants from Sudan and Barbados, made derogatory remarks about their lack of interest in dating Black women, except for those with lighter skin tones. This has led to accusations of self-hate and internalized racism, with many social media users calling for the podcast to be removed from streaming platforms. The discussion has highlighted the broader issue of how media can perpetuate negative stereotypes about Black women, contributing to a narrative that undermines their worth and diversity. The author of the article emphasizes the importance of Black people controlling their own narrative to combat the harmful portrayals promoted by white supremacist ideologies.

Two Podcast Host Say They Refuse To Date Black Women — Was This Racism?

Just having a preference or is it self-hate?

Host of “Fresh and Fit” Podcast from YouTube

Black Twitter and Instagram was locked, loaded, and firing on all cylinders against these two clowns from the podcast Fresh and Fit.

Following a verbal altercation with a female Dallas rapper named Asian Doll on a recent episode of the Fresh & Fit podcast, a video has resurfaced showing the co-hosts Myron Gaines and Walter Weekes discussing why they prefer not to date Black women.

“I mean, hey bro, if you wanna date a bunch of Shanequa’s, go for it,” said Myron Gaines in the clip while speaking about the dating app BLK. “Me and Fresh [Walter Weekes] aren’t really down with the brown like that, being night riders. Sometimes if they’re redbone, but I mean, in general, me and Fresh don’t dabble in the dark, if you know what I mean.” Social media users have been reacting to the resurfaced clip since last night, calling out for the podcast host to be taken off all streaming platforms. The podcast is described as the number-one show for men to learn about women, finances, fitness, and more. However, people have pointed out a disturbing pattern of the hosts disrespecting Black women, who usually make up the majority of their panels, following the debacle with Asian Doll, which prompted the rapper to calmly walk out and leave.

Now I never heard of this podcast until this clip started surfacing around social media nor have I have seen these two dudes any where else. Now before I dig deep, keep in mind that these two are not Foundational Black Americans, they are immigrants — one is from Sudan and the other is from Barbados, which is who I am mainly focused on. What you see here is another case of self-hate. When you see certain Black people that cosign on this type of self-destructive ideology, understand that this is something that has been programmed by the white supremacists. They didn’t just come into this world with this type of mindset, this is something that has been taught to them by the dominant society. When you say stuff like this, to me, it’s like saying that you hate your mother, because your mother is a Black woman. These dudes have been brainwashed into believing the stereotype that all Black women are ghetto, loud, annoying, uneducated — just unworthy of attention. That has to be the biggest bunch of bullshit that I have ever heard in my entire life. Not saying that there aren’t some bad Black women on this Earth, but there are some amazing ones out here that need to be highlighted more because what white supremacy loves to do is use the power of media to portray the image of the Black woman as someone who is a gold digger, a hoe, a tramp, a slut, etc. This is why we need to be the ones who control the narrative so we don't’ have idiots like the Fresh and Fit podcast host spitting this type of garbage out and feeling justified for it.

Please leave this self-hate nonsense back into 2021 so we can prosper in 2022.
