An Ohio State Football Player Was Smeared For Speaking About NCAA Racism
The NCAA was furious to hear this
There was a very interesting story that was trending on Twitter recently and it’s a story about a former defensive back for The Ohio State Buckeyes named Marcus Williamson. It turns out Marcus was trending by doing something that was going to ruffle some feathers as it pertains to those that the NCAA can do no wrong. It was going to ruffle feathers with Ohio State’s hands. It’s going to ruffle feathers with anybody who thinks college athletes should not be paid.
So it appears to me that this brother was on The Ohio State back when they had a coach named Urban Myers, who I thought was a pretty good coach when he was there because he most certainly was not a good coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars during his stint there. Marcus played from 2017–2021, he was number 5, he’s very intelligent as well — just to give you a little background about this young Black man.
Now to address this situation specifically, I was very interested in this because I like many others have been speaking consistently about the NCAA will pay millions and millions of dollars to guys like Nick Saban but won’t pay the athletes who put their bodies on the line every Saturday night. So what they would typically do to pacify the student-athletes with just scholarships, or convince them with throwing beautiful women, or television time. So Marcus has been speaking on his experience with Ohio State. He spoke on things in terms of the racism he experienced.
According to Stephen Means from Cleveland.com, COLUMBUS, Ohio — While the Ohio State football team was busy defeating Utah in the Rose Bowl on Saturday, one of its former players was on Twitter, sparking a dialogue based on his experience as a Buckeye.
Marcus Williamson was a defensive back for the Buckeyes from 2017–21 spending most of the last two seasons as a starter at safety. He did not join the team in Pasadena to end the season revealing that he has “retired” from football for “self care.”
So he didn’t go to the Rose Bowl, which I don’t blame him. It’s nothing that significant, it’s just another way to make money in terms of all these bowl games. I mean, you see teams with losing records have bowl games. These bowl games are money grabs that benefit the white supremacists and not the Black community. Now some may say “Well, this gives a chance for the Black athletes to have some television time so they can have a chance to make it to the NFL and make some big money.” Oh please. Do you know the percentage of players that transition from college to the NFL? It’s very, very low. Also, remember the average career span for an NFL player is two to three years. The NFL doesn’t stand for the National Football League, it really stands for “Not For Long.” The league will use you up faster than used toilet paper. You are no different than a napkin at Burger King.
Marcus Williamson is 100% correct on this matter: athletes should be compensated. The athletes are the reason that they even have a products that the NCAA can promote on ESPN and FOX so they can generate the revenue that they are generating. It makes no sense why they would do this for free. That’s why I also agree that an athlete should have the right to refuse to play to take care of their health. When you are on a field where a 300lb man can charge at you at 50mph, drop you on your head, and you have the possibility of getting brain damage? I don’t blame them. As I stated in one of my last articles when I was speaking on Antonio Brown, about 99% of all NFL players’ brains have CTE.
So kudos to this brother, I’m happy that he made a wise decision for himself. College sports is like a plantation. It’s something that we all been noticing. Also, shout out to Deion Sanders for encouraging top Black student-athletes to consider going to HBCUs so at least the Black universities can benefit financially. We have to start making some serious game-changing economic decisions so that the next generation doesn’t end up going to these white schools being their next slaves on the college football plantation.
