Why We Should Join This Writing Challenge
Vocal Media opened an inspiring challenge for creators. When we read the following words from the Vocal team, we got motivated to spread these insightful words “There are moments when art and creativity can seem small in the grand scheme of current events. And yet, creating during hard times helps us process and understand not only ourselves but each other.”
The purpose of this writing challenge is “to support and stand with Ukraine by joining the Moment of Freedom Challenge. You can write a short story, essay, poem or personal account about freedom — the fight for it, the belief in it, the joy of it.”
For this unique challenge, you may write about your personal experiences with freedom and how it impacts you, your community, and anyone you hold dear. Readers want to read what freedom means to you, large or small, trivial or vital to your sense of self.
This challenge is different from the previous one. Rather than awarding cash prizes, Vocal Media will donate $10,000 to United Help Ukraine. When the competition ends, the Vocal Team will publish a collection of the 50 most influential and inspiring stories on their site. The vocal Media team encourages creators to spread the word to support Ukraine through art.
This challenge is timely as we know what is happening in Ukraine.
To be eligible to enter the Challenge, participants must be over 13 years old. The acceptance criteria is an article between 600 and 5,000 words complying with the Community Guidelines of Vocal Media. You need to enter by April 5, 2022, at 11:59 PM EST.
Participation in writing contests might bring tangible and intangible benefits to creators. Besides personal satisfaction from therapeutic writing, these contests might bring extra revenue. In addition, these challenges offered by Vocal+ membership might introduce our content to a new audience. So it is an excellent opportunity to build our reading audience.
