READING RECOMMENDATION

Traveling by Bike — A Different Kind of Adventure

A family creating memories for a lifetime

Kristina’s story reminded me of our adventure earlier this year. Carrying the bike over fallen trees in the countryside. | Credit: Anne Bonfert

There are so many adventurers out there exploring the world in different ways. While I just came back from an awesome hiking expedition carrying all the pack on my back, here is a family that traveled by bike. For three months — with a toddler in tow.

Traveling through the beautiful hills of Spain, these parents do argue along the way and let their toddler run from time to time but do enjoy the amazing vistas after all.

It’s a two-part series (I’m sure more will come) and I highly recommend you this read. It’s entertaining and has some great photographs of beautiful scenery.

Kristina Moravkova is the writer of this series. She is new on Medium but has kicked off her presence on this platform with these two touching stories. I’m sure we’ll get to know more about her and the adventures she embarks on with her little family.

She introduces herself in a short about-me bio:

“While running our small outdoor store and little family of ours, we get to spend some time outside. The time which makes our stories. Camping, hiking, traveling, biking…”

I don’t often write reading recommendations but when I read her story this morning while curled up in bed I was taken in by this interesting adventure.

I stumbled upon this read when I checked out the story recaps this week. At the publication of Globetrotters, we publish every week a summary of all stories published with us. By describing the articles with some personal notes, you can get already an idea of what each article is about.

If you don’t know what to read, these posts are a great way to find interesting articles. Adrienne Beaumont usually takes the workload of reading through all submitted pieces in order to set this post together.

Here is the latest one, published by our newest editor, Jillian Amatt:

Others have their own ways of finding gems on Medium. As I was going through my long reading list filled with awesome stories on Medium, I read Penny Grubb’s article describing how she finds good stories to read.

This one is also worth checking out if you need inspiration:

“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” — Joseph Addison
