Thursday Musings in ILLUMINATION — Agreements, Disagreements and Opinions.
Agree or Disagree, that is the question.
Agree or Disagree — voicing out matters.

For a vast majority of us, we have a tendency to agree.
More specifically, we tend to want to agree.
It makes us “one of you” and we look good.
At the same time, there are many moments where speaking up can be risky. Especially when there is too much at stake.
For instance.
We don’t agree with our clients all the time yet we succumb to the prospect of the next deal all the time.
We don’t agree with our boss’s strategy all the time yet we swallowed our opinions because performance appraisal is around the corner.
Well, almost all the time.
We don’t agree with our parents almost all the time yet we don’t speak up because we want to maintain the harmony in the household almost all the time.
The prospect of having a World War at home is emotionally draining.
So in order to avoid that, we succumb to general consensus.
Or maybe, we just censor ourselves because we think there is really nothing we can contribute.
So we hum along.
Actually, I do not believe in that.
Agreeing and disagreeing is just one part of any conversation.
What matters are our opinions.
We, as individuals, have opinions stemmed from our unique viewpoints.
Expressing our opinions matter because it allows for holistic consideration on any decision-making process.
Whenever we see someone having difficulty wanting to express their opinions, do ask them directly.
It makes their life so much easier.
And most importantly, we get to hear what they would have not said.
And for once, we might have actually have diversity in opinions.
