What was shown in the announcement trailer?
Hey folks, guess what? Ubisoft has dropped one of those classic teasers for a show filled with even more teasers and trailers! I know you all go crazy for these. The announcement trailer for Ubisoft Forward Live 2023 gives us a sneak peek at some exciting stuff: Assassin’s Creed, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, The Crew Motorfest, and a mysterious teaser game that’s keeping us all guessing.
Get ready because it’s all happening at 10 am PDT on June 12th, 2023, right around when E3 used to take place. Well, it’s not exactly E3 anymore, but let’s be honest, it’s pretty much still E3 because every game publisher is putting on a big show and making announcements. It’s just not all in one place at the same time.
The trailer starts with a barrage of nostalgic moments from past E3s, which might be a bit over the top, but hey, at least they show us some games we actually care about.
We catch a glimpse of giant blue catpeople riding strange pteranodons and wreaking havoc on a combat helicopter. That’s a taste of what’s coming in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Then we see some camel action in a desert, with a brown and tan aesthetic, showcasing the protagonists of Assassin’s Creed Mirage racing toward a sandstorm. Surprisingly, it looks pretty damn good, despite my initial cynicism.
Next up, we’re treated to lightning, Red Bull racing symbols, and a beautifully rendered car that screams The Crew Motorfest, the next installment in the series. Rumor has it that it’ll be set on a stunning Hawaiian island, which sounds like a winner to me, especially after Forza Horizon 5 nailed it with their Mexico setting.
Now, here’s the kicker. As the video plays, one of the robotic-sounding people asks, “Wait, what game is that?” We’re shown some black and gold surface that could be fabric, or who knows what? It’s a total mystery, and we can’t really tell what game they’re teasing.
But you know what? I’m going to bet my bottom dollar that it’s a remake of Haze, that forgettable shooter from the PS3 era with all those drugged-up corporate soldiers. I mean, it’s the only Ubisoft game I can recall with a black-and-gold color scheme.
Oh, and remember Skull and Bones? Well, Ubisoft promises that we’ll finally get to see it. After years of teasing us with trailers at E3 and other events, it just wouldn’t be early June without a vague tease of that game. Honestly, at this point, maybe they should just keep making trailers for it and never release the actual game.
