Linus Tech Tips, the popular tech YouTube channel is facing some criticism.

But today, I’m gonna dive into Linus Tech Tips and spill the beans on the juicy drama around their videos, which I found out about thanks to a helpful TikToker. So, buckle up!
What is Linus Tech Tips?
So, you know how there are these awesome tech enthusiasts out there who make videos about everything from building computers to testing out the latest gadgets? Well, Linus Tech Tips is like the superstar of that tech-loving world!
You’ve got Linus Sebastian, a Canadian dude with a passion for all things geeky. He’s got this YouTube channel that’s like a virtual playground for tech lovers. Linus and his team dive headfirst into the world of computers, gadgets, and everything in between.
They’re like your go-to friends when you’re itching to know about the latest graphics cards, mind-blowing laptops, or mind-bogglingly fast processors.
What sets Linus Tech Tips apart from the crowd is their crazy creativity and no-nonsense approach. They’ll unbox a new smartphone or gaming console with so much excitement that you’ll be on the edge of your seat, even though you’re just watching a screen.
But it’s not just about opening boxes — Linus and his gang push these gadgets to their limits, sometimes even to the point of breaking (oops!), just to give you the real scoop on their capabilities.
Now, let’s not forget the legendary PC builds. These guys are like the rockstars of building computers. They’ll take you on a wild ride as they assemble monstrous gaming rigs, sleek workstations, and everything in between.

But it’s not just about the gadgets — Linus Tech Tips also delves into the tech industry drama, explaining complex stuff like data breaches, software updates, and even the occasional corporate rivalry.
They’ll break down news and trends in a way that’s easy to understand, making you feel like you’re part of the tech world’s inner circle.
What is the controversy surrounding Linus Tech Tips?
Linus Sebastian, the mastermind behind Linus Tech Tips, has openly acknowledged the “sloppiness” that slipped into their handling of a recent uproar triggered by their evaluation of a swanky water-cooling system. Yet, what truly gnaws at him in this scenario is the swiftness with which the online mob mentality kicked in, brandishing virtual pitchforks.
The saga ignited with a video drop on June 24, where Linus and his trusty sidekick embarked on assembling a water-cooled PC, employing Billet Labs’ Monoblock — a system engineered to chill both the CPU and GPU in unison.
What’s intriguing, the Monoblock hadn’t yet entered the production phase; it was up for grabs via preorders on the Billet Labs website, tagged at a hefty $841. The version scrutinized by the Linus Tech Tips (LTT) crew was evidently a one-of-a-kind prototype.
Things didn’t exactly sail smoothly. The installation of the cooling block put up quite a fight, and the GPU they teamed up with wasn’t an exact match for the cooler. The unit dispatched by Billet Labs was tailored for GeForce GTX 3090 GPUs, but LTT subjected it to a 4090 test.
According to Adam Sonedergard, an accomplice in the experiment, Billet Labs hinted that the device should work with a 4090 card, but the certainty level was a tad murky. As fate would have it, the cooling results were far from satisfactory.
As Linus summed it up in his review’s climax:
“The best-case scenario for this thing is, the temps are slightly better […] But the experience of building with it is a nightmare, and the advantages over literally any other solution are negligible.”
This assessment triggered a pointed call-out by Gamers Nexus, a rival channel, on August 14. Accusing LTT of sacrificing precision, ethics, and responsibility for the allure of churning out content, Gamers Nexus raised the “quantity over quality” flag.
In a scathing video, Steve Burke, Gamers Nexus’ head honcho, also claimed that LTT “sold” the unique Monoblock prototype after use, instead of adhering to their promise to return it to the manufacturer.
This sparked Linus to come forth with an extensive written counterargument. Despite having relinquished his CEO throne earlier in the year, he took ownership of the debacle, stressing the importance of diligence and acknowledging their evolving process.
The glitches faced were deemed a part of the growth pains and openly communicated to their audience in the spirit of transparency.
While Linus accepted the slip-ups, he fervently defended LTT’s track record of precision, asserting that the critique wasn’t on the “accuracy” of the review, but rather on their management of the aftermath.
He confessed to misreading the community vibe and misrepresenting Billet Labs, desiring to prevent well-intentioned buyers from plunging into the Monoblock mess.
Disputing Gamers Nexus’ assertions, Linus contested that LTT didn’t exactly “sell” the Monoblock; they rather auctioned it for charity, albeit due to a misunderstanding. He clarified that the proceeds were directed toward charitable deeds. Linus also revealed that LTT is committed to reimbursing Billet Labs for the prototype’s expenses.
Burke, however, wasn’t swayed, and he presented his counterpoints in a follow-up video. In the midst of the maelstrom, Billet Labs praised Gamers Nexus’ integrity and subtly hinted at their disappointment with LTT’s actions.
While acknowledging the setback, Billet Labs expressed their unwavering focus on future endeavors, hinting at their intention to forge ahead with the production plan, learning from this incident.
The squabble extended beyond the Monoblock, with Gamers Nexus claiming LTT had been consistently fumbling data. Linus rebutted, acknowledging their imperfections and emphasizing their commitment to transparency and improvement.

With a whopping 15.6 million subscribers, Linus Tech Tips commands the PC hardware-focused YouTube realm.
The community’s sentiment was varied, with strong support for Gamers Nexus and Billet Labs, and a more balanced view within the official LTT forums.
As the discussions raged on, Linus and his team seemed committed to growth, accountability, and providing accurate and beneficial content to their colossal audience.
