The Third Tron Movie Is Reportedly in the Works
After so many years, it seems to be finally happening.

After computer games, one of my hobbies is watching movies in my interest areas. I introduce the new ones as they become available. I recently introduced 7 Film Releases I’m Eagerly Awaiting in 2023. Today, I mention the third Tron movie.
Ever since I was a kid, the first Tron movie was always one of my favorite movies. After Tron: Legacy was released in 2010, it instantly became one of my favorite movies despite the moderately low audience score.
To this day, I’m very nostalgic for these two movies and have always hoped they would make a third to either continue the story or revisit earlier aspects with a prequel.
The child inside me is screaming with joy and excitement over this news.
It has been a long-awaited anticipation for fans of the Tron franchise as the rumors of a third installment have been circulating for years.
However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the wait may finally be over as the third TRON movie is officially moving forward. The movie, titled TRON: Ares, will star Jared Leto, who has been attached to the project for quite some time.
In addition to Leto’s involvement, The Hollywood Reporter also reveals that Jesse Wigutow has written the script for the film, and Joachim Rønning is in talks to direct the movie.
Wigutow is known for his work on films such as The Prince, and It Runs in the Family, while Rønning is a well-known name in the industry, having directed films like Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Leto has been a vocal advocate for a sequel to the 2010 film Tron: Legacy since as early as 2017. Over the years, there have been several changes to the project, with various names being associated with it.
In 2020, Garth Davis, known for his work on films such as Mary Magdalene and Lion, was reportedly onboard to direct. However, there is currently no mention of his involvement in the project.
Furthermore, the actor made headlines in 2020 when he posted an image of him working out to prepare for Tron 3 before his reputation took a hit with the release of Morbius, a film that was not well-received by critics or audiences.
The original Tron, released in 1982, starred Jeff Bridges as a computer programmer who enters the software world of a mainframe computer and interacts with programs to escape.
The film was groundbreaking in its use of early CGI, and although it did not perform well at the box office upon its initial release, it has since gained a dedicated fan base over the years.
With Tron: Ares, fans can expect to see the return of the visually stunning world of Tron and the continuation of the story that began with the first two films.
