The Results From 30 Articles in 30 Publications in 30 Days Challenge
Did I meet my goals?
I committed to the 30 articles submitted to 30 different publications in 30 days challenge that was proposed by David Majister. I wanted to share the results of the challenge.
Did I Meet My Goals?
The goals I set for the challenge were to complete 30 articles, double my followers to 144, and double my income to $46.
Articles
While I planned to submit 30 articles, I stopped after day 24. My choice to stop the challenge was twofold. Firstly, I was definitely getting burned out. With the start of my podcast and changes occurring in my business, it became difficult to keep up with the stress of the challenge.
The second factor is I lost my interest in writing for the publications I had left. I mainly write for entrepreneurship, education, and personal development. While I tried some new forms of writing, I would spend hours looking for ideas for publications that I hadn’t published in. As a result, the quality of my articles decreased resulting in rejected articles.
The combination of these two things made me decide to stop the challenge and give myself time to recharge. I didn’t think that writing poor articles just to reach the numbers would be worth my time and energy.

Followers
When I started the challenge, I had 72 followers. My goal was to double my followers to 144 followers. By the end of March, I had 158 followers and now have 161 followers. Therefore, even though I stopped my challenge early, I still met my follower goal.
Outside of just the number of followers, I have enjoyed connecting with other writers on the platform. I have connected with two other writers who also undertook the challenge David Majister and Catherine Mancini! I have truly enjoyed reading their articles and developing connections with writers and readers on this platform.
Income goals
I had just started making money on Medium in December 2019, where I made $0.02. My goal for this challenge was to double my February income of $22.33. I was surprised to find that I actually doubled my goal and made $90.73 across two accounts. So close to the $100 mark.

What I Have Learned
While I stopped this challenge early, I have learned so much from the challenge. My writing has improved through this time. I have spent much more effort on my titles and images. I have realized the difference that spending time on your titles makes.
In this challenge, I flipped my typical way of publishing. Before, I would write an article and then decide where I would submit it. I received many rejections from submitting this way. However, during this challenge, I would focus on crafting an article specifically for a publication. I found that my acceptance rate and stats drastically increased as a result of the change in the way I submit.
Overall, I have learned a lot from this challenge and believe that it helped me to increase my followers and my income. However, I do not think that I would participate in this challenge again. I learned a lot about different types of content that I can write, but I want to focus my time on topics that I enjoy writing and do well for me on Medium.
