DRABBLE STORY ARC #2: SEEK AND AVENGE

The Idea of Safety

A chapter of a ‘choose your own’ story — drabble edition.

Conversation with the Orc Leader; photo by Bing Image Creator

This is a continuation of The Burned Village, a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition,” initially created by JF Danskin. Head back to the previous installment, The Deserters, or find out how to contribute by clicking here.

Bruno motions for everyone to take cover and steps forward, holding up his hands. The orcs spot him and approach, weapons raised.

One steps forward and speaks in broken common speech. “We no fight,” he says, gesturing to the other orcs. “We tired war.”

Bruno lowers his weapon, eyeing the orc warily. “Why should we trust you?”

The orc shrugs. “Want go home.”

You, Dara, and Bruno exchange glances. Then, you take a deep breath and step forward.

“Can you help us find somewhere safe?” you ask.

The orc leader nods. “Know place. Safe.”

You hesitate.

Do you:

  1. Trust the orcs and go with them (click here).
  2. Decide, as deserters, they cannot be trusted (click here).
