The Honeymoon Period Ends (KDP Blog: Jan 15, 2024)
You might have noticed that I didn’t post a blog yesterday, breaking my 13-day streak of consecutive writing since the new year began.
Every new venture initially feels exciting, almost like a game, but this enthusiasm doesn’t last forever. It fades over time, and motivation diminishes. At this juncture, it’s crucial to develop a sustainable schedule or plan. Without it, there’s a risk of discontinuing the venture.
In the past, my ventures with KDP and YouTube began with great excitement, but this eventually waned. The same has now happened with my writing on Medium. Consequently, I’ve devised a more sustainable plan for the long run. I will write articles or blogs on Medium only four times a week (instead of daily). You can expect new posts from me every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
KDP and Long-term Sustainability
Many people, when starting with KDP, dive in headfirst due to the initial excitement and spend countless hours daily on their business (there is nothing wrong with this). But when the excitement fades, they often stop publishing books altogether.
Understanding this aspect of human nature is crucial when venturing into something new. It’s important to establish a schedule that is sustainable in the long term. This will differ for each person, based on their unique circumstances. For me, this means working on my KDP business for two hours a day, six days a week, dedicating one and a half hours to YouTube, also six days a week, and now, as mentioned, writing on Medium four times a week.
Remember these two words: long-term and sustainability. They are key to lasting success.
