The GOP Political Circus That’s Worn Out Its Welcome

I think it was P. T. Barnum who said, “You can fool all the people some of the time and you can fool some of the people all of the time but you can’t fool all the people all the time.” One could easily think that the MAGA extreme of the right-of-center political movement consider Barnum and Bailey to only be instructive in the art of producing a circus in three rings with a contingent of side shows populated by true lifelong MAGA carnies, and I don’t mean Spanish meats either. These are the guys that actually do the grunt work of making the circus attendee believe what he’s told and allow him to ignore his lying eyes for a few moments of blissful and totally childish fantasy.
The extreme right-of-the-right wing of American political actors seem to have forgotten, or perhaps never learned, the reason that the circus never stays in town for too long. People will see through the veil of impossible performances to the raw humanity of the circus populace. The extreme right-wing devotees are being exposed for the flash-in-the-pan that they are in the same way the carnival people would be exposed if they overstayed their welcome in any town. Political populism must stay abreast of the similarity of public opinion and a kaleidoscope. So, the MAGAites end up looking for the world like those dried-up petunias out in the garden. For a moment when they were in their prime, they were beautiful and full of so much summer promise, but now they lie sprawled on the ground in a brown shadow of a form they once had. They surely benefited the garden in their prime, but now they are as much of a negative as they once were a positive. It appears the extreme right wing hasn’t noticed that it is past its prime.
There is an absolute need for the conservative side of the political spectrum just as there is an absolute need for the liberal side of the political spectrum. Neither side can have absolute positions. It is at this point that the MAGA spectrum of conservatism shoots themselves in the foot. Instead of understanding that the policies they promote are losing propositions, they double and triple down on the lunacy of the politician who proclaims him or herself to be representative of the unborn. As well as what is godly, and above all, proclaims that his or her public statements should not be used as late-night comedy material. I guess they’re offended that political ineptitude is comedy gold. You can’t blame them on that because they have to feel pretty damned low. Some of the crap they pull is depressing and we only have to witness it. They live it. I don’t know how they survive.
I saw a snippet of that rant that Chip Roy was having the other day. He was waxing on about all the legislative work that this Congress has achieved. Oh yeah. There aren’t any achievements. He challenged his peers to come to the floor of the Congress and explain exactly what has been done by the current Congress. No one came forward.
Don’t get me wrong on this issue, please. I can enjoy the intricacies of improbable plot lines with the best of them. Wasn’t I one of those guys who binge-watched Umbrella Academy? But guys! Not even #5 would be able to stay up with the time-warping, reality-denying, wannabe shape shifters who make up the extremists of the extreme MAGA right wing. Does anyone have a clue about what the next matter-of-the-moment will be for Space Laser CrossFit lady? How about what will be the next cause celebre for Florida’s Page Dog? Will he punish Azz Kizzer enough to appease the MAGA Revenge Gods? Speaking of Azz, what legislative purpose does a kidney punch serve again?
Speaking of legislative purposes, I think I may have missed the importance of staging an MMA brawl during a Health, Education, Labor and Pension hearing. Senator Sanders had to tell Markwayne to sit his butt down because he is a United States Senator. All this was because the witness posted mean tweets which Markwayne found to be annoying to the point of threatening the witness with physical violence but then he had to brag about his stupid behavior on right-wing media. That’s about as on brand for a MAGAdoodle as Hippos in tutus would be for Disney. Thanks 45. None of this would be possible or necessary but for you.
A huge difference between the left-of-center and the right-of-center political leanings is that left-of-center people tend to consider abstractions as the basis of communication while the right-of-center folks tend to consider individual words as having more importance than the abstractions the words form. Take an idea like the weather. Everyone experiences the weather, but that doesn’t not mean that we all perceive the weather in the same way. Right-wing people tend to view the weather through the lens of maximizing current profit. Left-leaning people tend to see the weather as a variable that has changed the way life is lived on the planet many times over the millennia. A right-wing perception could be that it snows and some winters are warmer than other winters and change is just Mother Nature flexing on humans. Whereas left-wing perception might notice that major weather events seem to be more severe and it certainly would not harm anything to be prepared as a Boy Scout would do. A right-wing perception would tend toward preparing for humans to attack him but might not prepare for the weather to change so drastically as to be a threat due to human behavior across the planet.
I don’t know this but I’m highly suspicious that maybe we all could stand to consider the size of a country. In a country there are all manner of people. A country must govern all of those manners of people. It would be counterproductive for a country to limit the kind of person who could be recognized as a citizen. A country needs diversity. A country without diversity would be at a disadvantage in the global village. A country which does not understand that the World Wide Web makes us a global community and that has nothing to do with Cabals or the Illuminati or the Freemasons or even extraterrestrials. It has everything to do with the idea that we have all become international dabblers. We cannot escape the influence of the entire world on what we see every day on the internet. It is inconceivable that normal people would not be as diverse as the chosen mode of communication the world over. It’s not the world’s fault that MAGAdoodles can not wrap their minds around that actual reality. Yeah, you’d think they’d be embarrassed, but to be embarrassed, you’d kind of have to be aware of how goofy you appear to people who mean something to you. Unfortunately, it’s hard to picture how a performing MAGAdoodle could possibly possess awareness outside of his or her quest for MAGAfame. We have to stop electing stupid people. Really, we do.
