The First Two Forza Horizon Games Will Have Their Servers Shut Down in August
Sadly we will no longer be able to play online in the first two Horizon games.
So, in some of my previous chats, I’ve talked about all sorts of racing games. If you’re interested, I’ll drop the links to those discussions at the end of this post.
But today, I wanna dive into one game in particular: Forza Horizon. Plus, I’ve got some juicy updates about the first two games going offline. Let’s get into it!
What is Forza Horizon?
Alright, buckle up and get ready for a wild ride because I’m about to introduce you to Forza Horizon, the ultimate racing extravaganza!
Imagine a world where you can unleash your inner speed demon, push the limits of your driving skills, and experience the thrill of high-octane races. That’s what Forza Horizon is all about.
First things first, forget about those stuffy racetracks with their neat boundaries. Forza Horizon takes racing to a whole new level by throwing you into a massive open-world environment.

Say goodbye to online play in Horizon 1 & 2
Big news from Turn 10 Studios! Brace yourselves because, on August 22, they’re pulling the plug on the online services for Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 2. Why? Well, they want to put all their energy into their newest games.
But don’t worry too much, because according to a blog post from the Forza team, you’ll still be able to enjoy the games offline in single-player mode. So, if you’re all about cruising around the virtual world on your own, that’s still on the menu.
However, here’s the bummer: all those cool online features will vanish into thin air. Say goodbye to matchmaking, leaderboard browsing, and downloading awesome user-generated content like sick liveries, vinyls, tuning setups, and photos. It’s like they’re hitting the reset button on the whole online experience.
Oh, and let’s not forget about Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious. Yep, that one’s going offline too. But hey, if you’ve already snatched up these games, fear not! You can still redownload them whenever you feel like it. So, they’re not completely disappearing from your gaming library.
Turn 10 Studios had a few words to share about their decision to shut down the online services for both Forza Horizon 1 and 2:
“We know our community has fond memories of exploring Colorado and Southern Europe in Forza Horizon 1 and 2, from meeting new friends on road trips to sharing liveries, photos, and tunes, and we thank you all for your incredible passion, support, and dedication over the last decade.”
Forza Horizon hit the scene back in 2012 on the Xbox 360, while its successor, Forza Horizon 2, made its way to the Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014. These games were showered with praise when they first dropped, earning very high ratings on different platforms.

It’s always a bit sad to see online features get the axe, but Turn 10 Studios has got its reasons.
They want to give their newer games the attention they deserve.
So, if you’re a die-hard Forza fan, get ready to bid farewell to the online world of Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 2.
But hey, at least you can still rev your engines in single-player mode and relive the glory days whenever you want.
