The Dazzling Cascade of a Waterfall Captivates My Eyes
Response to the Reciprocal Nature prompt: “wondrous waterfalls”
Ramona Falls is a popular day hike in Mt. Hood National Forest, OR. It is one of my favorite destinations. It involves a three and a half mile trek that skirts a scenic river. You hear the falls before you see it. Once you arrive at the falls itself, the sight takes your breath away. Mother Nature created one spectacular image with Ramona.

What is it about a waterfall that resonates with most of us? People gravitate to them around the world. Most are beautiful to behold. They display a forceful power and wildness. Once the unbridled water erupts over a cliff, nothing can stop it. It travels freely over and around obstacles. There is nothing timid about it. It roars with an exuberant joy.
“When a monotonously flowing river comes to a cliff, it screams of joy as it falls down, and we call those adventurous screams a waterfall!”― Mehmet Murat ildan

It can take any shape at will, expressing itself without limitation. Man can learn something from a waterfall. How often do we conform to society’s expectations? Why are we hesitant to reveal our true natures? We are all unique and beautiful in our own way.
“Waterfalls are exciting because they have power, they have rainbows, they have songs, and they have boldness and craziness!”― Mehmet Murat ildan

When I’m near a waterfall, the air feels cooler and fresh and clean. Any concerns I have evaporate. My world appears brighter and full of hope. That force sustains life. As it continues on its journey it affects everything it meets.
“Water is the most perfect traveller because when it travels it becomes the path itself!”― Mehmet Murat ildan

Some waterfalls illustrate the force and power of Nature. They can loosen and undercut soil boundaries. They can topple trees and sweep away vegetation. Their excessive energy can create rapids that continue to carve and destroy. Thus reminding man to respect nature and the unpredictability of life.

I honor the power that is inherent in a waterfall. I also appreciate its beauty and life giving properties. I stand in awe and wonderment of this God — given gift to us. Tranquil wilderness scenes inspire me to protect our earthly home. My spirit soars when I come upon a waterfall, a glorious expression of God’s love.
