The Complete Process I Use To Rank My YouTube Videos On YouTube and Google Search
I’m averaging 1,000 views per day on YouTube. I have over 160+ YouTube videos here is what SEO stuff you needed to know that nobody tells you about.
This is related to the article I have published where I talk about the “The Process I Use To Rank My Blog Post In Google Search”
The most important part of Video SEO is finding a keyword that is related to your niche. Most people think YouTube is quiet competitive but I don’t think so because I have found some keywords that have nearly no video about and it is ranked on Google and YouTube first page.
This article has three main parts; At first, we will discuss what is something you need to do before starting your video, then the second part is to optimize your video at the time of uploading it, and in the third part, we will discuss, things to do after publishing your video.
Things to do before start recording
Making videos is easy, just start your camera and record but this practice doesn’t make you get more organic views on your videos. So, when you did finding a niche for your YouTube channel. The next step is to start uploading videos.
Always remember to upload the videos on your main keyword.
For example, “How to start a blog” is a high competitive keyword on YouTube, but you should make a video about it if you have a blogging related channel. This doesn’t guarantee that you will be ranked but this ensures your credibility.
Here are some things you need to do before set to start recording your video.
- Keyword Research: This should be your first step toward video making. If you aren’t doing this then you are missing a lot of your interested audience. There are great tools available on the internet that will help you in keyword research. You could use tools like SEMrush or AHREF to do keyword research.
- Manual Keyword research: After doing keyword research the next thing to do is to search the same keyword on YouTube & Google. On YouTube, list down the longest video ranked on top 3 search results for a given keyword. Video length is the most important factor for getting ranked on a keyword.
Now, you have a keyword and a video length of the longer video ranked for that specific keyword.
Optimizing your Video while uploading
Record a video that is lengthier then the longest video ranked for a keyword of your interest. Make sure to repeat your target keyword while recording your video.
While uploading a video, use the following tips:
- Use the file name the same as the title of your YouTube video and make sure to use your keyword while naming your video file.
- Include your main keyword in the title of your YouTube video.
- Include your main keyword several times in the description of your YouTube video.
- Find all the tags relevant to your main keyword. You could use Google search as well as YouTube search recommendations to find relevant tags.
- Add as many tags as possible but keep in mind to add only relevant tags.
- Write at least 300 to 500 words in the description section.
- Add an attractive Thumbnail. The best practice to use is to use Canva as a tool to make a perfect thumbnail for your YouTube video.
- Add cards and blocks to your video to make sure your viewer finds more of your videos.
Things to do after uploading your YouTube video
The process I have shown you above is related to the on-page video search engine optimization, after uploading a video, you had to do some off-page search engine optimization.
After uploading your video make sure to get at least 100 views under 48 hours because this will helps you to compete. YouTube ranks videos based on Watch Time. Longer videos rank on YouTube because they accumulate more watch time compared to shorter videos.
Here are some useful practices to do after uploading a video on YouTube:
- Share it on social media especially don’t miss Pinterest.
- Write a unique story on Medium and embed it. Medium articles ranked quite well so you will get views for a lifetime.
- Make a blog and write a unique blog post about the same keyword and embed your YouTube video.
This was the complete process I use to rank my YouTube videos in the YouTube search and in Google search.
