The Best Stories of Jack Heimbigner

Challenge #1 from Illumination

I love a good Medium Challenge.

Sometimes they start by one person looking to boost their writing or the writing of others. And other times, like this time, it is started by a publication working to bring more stories out for people to read.

And while I don’t always participate, today, I am jumping in with both feet.

The challenge was set in this post by Dr Mehmet Yildiz:

For this challenge, we are to share a few of our top stories, here is a little more detail:

I want to propose each writer to create a story featuring their best stories. This story, similar to your bios, is expected to showcase your writing capabilities. This story can include around five stories. You may consider even one story with details at a minimum. However, the maximum is ten articles to make it a readable piece. It will be helpful to use a standard title such as “Best Stories of [Insert Your Name]”

Top 5 Stories of All Time On Medium

I thought I might do a few things to make this worth people’s time other than promoting my own stories. What I am going to do with each story is to provide some details about it in order to help YOU.

Like always, I want to be helpful too.

So, I will share how many views it has, what categories it is curated in (if any), and any other notes I might have on the post. Okay, are you ready?

Story #1

This story is from October of 2018 and it has 59K views. It isn’t curated at all. But I did find out that it has been in the top three search results on Google for the search term: Life Plan. Even above Michael Hyatt!

Story #2

This story is from November 2019, it has 44k views. It was curated in Productivity and Self. This was one of my first posts with Mind Cafe and it has a ton of internal Medium traffic.

Story #3

This story is from October 2018 as well, part of a series I did on the Post Grad Survival Guide and it came after the life plan post. It has 12.9k views and was curated in Productivity and Self.

Story #4

This story is from July 2018, it has 8.7k views, and was curated in Self. It is interesting to note that it wasn’t published in a publication. So it is possible to go without and get some great views.

Story #5

This one just moved into the top five recently. It is funny because I wrote about Medium Series, which I use from time to time, but it is mostly a dead part of the platform. It was published in July 2018 and has 7.3k views.

Final Thought

Since I want this post to be super helpful too, I have two last stories I want to share. The first one is my “Playlist” post that is pinned to my profile. It was inspired by Richie Crowley and I have seen some neat things with it.

The second story is my latest review of curated posts. Curation matters here on Medium, it helps get most stories out to more people. And I believe it is important to find ways to improve our chances of curation.

Thanks for reading my best stories, if you have completed the challenge, leave your post in the comments below, I can’t wait to read them!
