This is how I introduce Aliens to Australia as an Australian in a poetic expression.
In the land Down Under, where kangaroos bound,
And koalas in gum trees can often be found,
There’s a tale I’ll spin, so lend me your ears,
Of aliens landing, let go of your fears.
They came from the stars, with a curious notion,
To meet Aussie creatures, a grand introduction.
They landed in Sydney, quite close to the shore,
With a puzzled look on their faces galore.
Their spaceship was shaped like a boomerang’s curve,
With flashing lights that made Aussies observe.
They stepped out, these aliens, odd as can be,
Inquiring about marsupials they wanted to see.
“Where are the roos?” they asked with delight,
“Show us the kolas, they must be a sight!”
They were eager to meet our unique wildlife,
In a language that sounded quite otherworldly, quite rife.
The kangaroos hopped, the kolas did climb,
The emus and wombats, they came just in time.
The aliens marveled, their eyes wide and bright,
As Aussie critters danced under the moonlight.
With a “G’day” and a “Crikey,” they chatted away,
The aliens and animals, in the bush, they did stay.
The wallabies joined, and the possums dropped by,
Even a platypus swam with a sly little sigh.
They shared Vegemite sandwiches and Tim Tams with glee,
And taught the aliens to drink tea by the sea.
The aliens shared tales of faraway stars,
As they all looked up at the night’s brilliant spars.
As dawn broke over the Australian land,
The aliens waved, saying, “It’s been simply grand!”
With promises to return, they took to the sky,
Leaving the creatures below, waving goodbye.
So, if you gaze at the stars on a clear Aussie night,
Remember that meeting, so strange and so right.
For in this great land, where the eucalyptus grows,
Even aliens find friends, where the wild spirit flows.
This is my first entry to a poetry contest. So please wish me good luck.
