POETRY CHALLENGE

Ten Lines — a Poem and More

An answer to our prayers.

Always wondering how, Though I’ve learned lessons many, Do I need to learn more?

I am told, worry not, just do You’re not alone, only we, And there’s no need to be going fro and to.

Life is a journey to learn Lessons that are only our And that’s the ONLY lesson.

It’s been a while since I have done anything out of the box, being bogged down by the cursed how. I almost bought into the I-am-not-good-enough-for-this-shit shit.

Finally, something challenging and exciting showed up in my feed a couple of times to get me out of the rut. I was still hesitant. Then I remembered the answer to my prayers.

“Don’t worry, you’ll grow into it.”

Martin Rushton, the creator of Never-Ending-Poem — something I am sad to say I never participated in, though tagged many times by numerous friends — has come up with a new challenge that got me out of my ruts.

The instructions are simple and straightforward; the challenge is anything but easy.

Find a poem by one of your favorite Medium poets. Pick a line, any line, from the said poem. Now create a poem of your own so that each word in there is the last word of the verse in that order.

So if you picked a line that has seven words, your poem would have seven lines.

Tag the poet, and share the poem from which the line came.

The line I chose, How many more do we need to learn our lesson? came from a poem that Agnes Louis wrote, and was published in a Few Words.

Now, it’s your turn. Who’s up to it? I am adding a new twist to it. Tag a number of friends equal to the lines in your poem.

Paul Myers MBA, Sherry McGuinn, P.G. Barnett, Holly Jahangiri, Sharon Hurley Hall. Bob Jasper, Desiree Driesenaar, Priyanka Srivastava, Gurpreet Dhariwal, Amy Marley.

As always, thank you for reading and responding.
