Baby oaks growing wild by the edges of the road, where the forest opens up and receives sunlight. This and all other photographs by author Luciano Abriata.

SPRING REPORT WEEK 10

Spring unveils softly in this quiet forest

The light green foliage is now everywhere, as flowers shift from dominantly violet to mostly white and yellow colors.

I’ve taken up the habit of biking to this forest and then jogging in it at least once per week:

Providing me not only an exercising habit but also peace and a stunning setting for shooting Nature and connecting with it.

The forest’s foliage is getting dense -and look at that green

Here’s how I see it as I run on the comfy road made of chopped wood:

Because the forest is getting dense, sprouts must race upward looking for sunlight:

This ivy is also desperate for light:

As you’ve seen, the color of the new leaves is a very light green, as opposed to the darker hues they will gain later on into the summer:

New flowers show up

These are the flowers of a local wild bush:

Some other flowers are just getting ready:

And wild strawberries are now blooming their white flowers:

Although the dominant color is now yellow, just like that of rapeseed:

Especially from dandelions, that here I just liked to shoot looking up:

Violet flowers, on the contrary, are getting scarcer. There are still some around, though:

Clearly, yellow, white and violet are now among the most common wildflowers around:

But I know red will pop up everywhere in no time.
