Only the third line requires a decoder.

Almost everyone believes “blood is thicker than water” means that family is more important than friendships or that family bonds are closer than friendship. The full quote, however, is: “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.” — Source

Dr Mehmet Yildiz you have encouraged us to feature new writers. Dear readers, please allow me to Illuminate your lives with Libby Shively McAvoy’s spiritual stories. They deserve everyone’s attention. Am I biased by my love for this fabulous woman?

Please read the powerful messages in her stories and judge for yourself.

I truly believe everything happens for a reason, even the horrible things. You know you have truly healed when you are able to talk about it without crying, forgive completely, and go on to help others. I believe I experienced the level of physical and then later emotional abuse, so that I could relate to and in turn help others.

If my articles help or inspire just one person each day I feel like I have done my part in this world. I want people to know that everyone has a story. Everyone has something special to add to this world. Just be you and do not worry about what anyone else thinks.

The quest for happiness seems to be what everyone ultimately wants to achieve. But the question I would like to pose is are you living in the confines of your ego? The ego allows us to self-justify. The ego will keep you trapped, imprisoned, in a place of fear, worry, doubt, feelings of having to do better, and keeping you stuck in wanting more mode. The ego has its place when kept in balance. It keeps us safe while in an un-awakened state.

I was recently asked on Quora, “What gets better with age?” and I answered, I feel most things improve with age, but perhaps most of all, my own life. Like I mentioned earlier, I have come to appreciate aging, but the key is to take care of our body and mind so that we feel good in the process. You see, I didn’t really know who I was until I was thirty. Until then, I was just going through the motions doing what I was told, keeping the peace, and trying to please everyone else at the price of my own happiness. Once I learned to listen to my authentic voice and shed the need for external validation I began to awaken. I started living from the limitless place of the soul rather than the confines of the ego level, which is fear based.

The universe sends us relationships to help us grow into the best version of ourselves, whether or not the relationship lasts. I have learned much from karmic relationships that I exited. A karmic relationship exists to teach and heal to prepare me for a better future.
