Shining Light on the Good

Finding harmony and flow in all our days

This morning I admit I have butterflies in my stomach and a general feeling of anxiety that is rare for me. The election here in the U.S. is tomorrow. Here in Oregon, we have voted by mail for many years. Just a few days ago, my husband and I cheerfully dropped off our ballots at the library dropbox. I am on a 100-day journey to discovering more about abundance as I explore the book: The Tao of Abundance: Eight Ancient Principles for Abundant Living by Laurence G. Boldt. Some days it is challenging to find abundance, but it is always here with us.

At this moment, I know I am feeling a collective fear. So many of us are anxious about the unknown. This fear feels so real. It causes me to feel panic. This feeling manifests itself in my heart-beating faster and in my thoughts racing around like wildfire.

Now more than ever, I need to be in the present moment with abundance. Right in front of me on the table sits a gorgeous orchid. It has deep magenta and white blooms, radiating beauty, and it has bloomed twice in one year. I remember last November when my dear friend Sally gave me this plant. It was a birthday gift, and it has given me joy every day. Even when it finished blooming, I gave it daily attention. The anticipation of it blooming again gave me great hope.

When we bless the world and all in it; when we feel of good cheer, and at peace, we relax into the depth of our being, the fount of all creative ideas. A combination of energy and relaxation, of alertness and peace, is most conducive to creative discovery. Creative visions usually germinate in a mind that is relaxed and alert. -Laurence G. Boldt

I sat down at my laptop this morning, not knowing what to write. Even though each day of this journey is a mystery, my lack of ideas felt alarming at first. I began to look at my book on abundance, and reading about relaxing into our creativity gave me hope. I felt a sense of peace come over me. Just looking right in front of me, the orchid held all of the answers.

It is a day to be in the present moment, to find abundance in nature. I was expecting rain today, and we were given sunshine! The golden leaves are cascading down in all of their glory. I long to crunch them beneath my feet on my garden walk, and so I shall. The light on my face will take away any fears. Let’s live in this moment as it is ours.

Living things grow from receiving loving attention or wither and die without it. The easy way of creating is to give your attention to your creative inspirations. Feed and nourish them with loving attention. With daily, consistent attention, they begin to take shape in the world of form. -Laurence G. Boldt

My prayer and my intention for you today is to give your attention to your creativity and to nature. Observe the amazing abundance of the living things around you. With loving focus, you can grow your dreams, just like I grew the blooms on my orchid plant. See all as possible, and imagine the abundance that you seek already coming to you.

Day #7: How can you focus your attention on creating your dreams today?
