Share Your Stories of Trying Local Delicacies
Share the good, the bad, and the ugly! #localdelicacies

Food is an integral part of our everyday lives; it gives us life in more ways than one. We bond over our love for it, and we use it as an opportunity to connect with others, be that a first date or a family meal. All over the world, we use it to celebrate! For everyone, it is a massive part of our culture and our heritage, and that deserves to be shared.
“If you really want to make a good friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him…the people who give you their food, give you their heart.” — Cesar Chavez

Not only that, it plays a starring role in our travel adventures. It opens us up to entirely new styles of cooking, flavours we haven’t experienced before, and ingredients we may never have even heard of. Many new travel experiences involve local delicacies: wandering around local markets, smelling incredible aromas at local restaurants, learning about local cuisine, and how of course trying delicious new dishes.
For our latest prompt, we want to explore the idea of how trying local cuisine has opened you up to new experiences and helped you connect with others and local culture.
Whether that is reminiscing about your favourite local delicacies from home, that dish your grandma makes better than anyone else possibly could, or something you’ve tried on your travels.
Whether it’s the dish that first introduced you to the enticing new flavours of another country or connected you to others like sharing a homecooked meal with the family at your homestay.
Even if it’s something that almost traumatized you, that mystery meat that you’ll never know till your dying day what the hell it was or that time you got drunk and won a bet to eat a cockroach on a stick.
An incredible learning experience like a walking food tour of a new city or an unforgettable cooking class.
These are just examples. I’m sure you can think of many more!

So please share your experiences with us in this next travel writing prompt with the topic:

“My First Taste of Freedom” — by Benny Lynch

Congrats to Benny for this wonderful read. It was picked as the best writing prompt response from our five editors. You will receive priority publishing on your next submitted article and your current winning piece will receive a prime position on our Blog!
