Season 6 of Overwatch 2 Will Bring a New Healer with a Giant Railgun
Illari harnesses a giant railgun powered by the sun.

In a bunch of my past posts, I’ve chatted about all sorts of Overwatch stuff. You can find the links to those down at the bottom here.
Now, let’s dive into this one where I’ll be talking about the fresh face on the Overwatch 2 block and the cool new stuff dropping in season six.
Who is the new hero?
Exciting news for all of you Overwatch 2 fans out there! The game’s getting a brand-new hero, and she’s about to light up the battlefield in a totally unique way. Say hello to Illari, the blazing addition to the Overwatch 2 roster who’s ready to make her debut this Thursday as we kick off season 6.
Now, Illari isn’t your typical support hero who’s just all about patching up wounds and playing the nursemaid. Nope, she’s here to mix things up and bring a fiery twist to the world of support gameplay.
Picture this: a support hero who’s not only about keeping the gang in tip-top shape but also packing a punch when it comes to dishing out damage.
Okay, let’s break it down. Illari’s like the cool fusion of a DPS character and a support champ, bringing together the best of both worlds. You might be scratching your head and wondering, “How’s she gonna pull that off?”
Well, Illari’s got a few tricks up her fiery sleeves that are gonna make you sit up and take notice.
First up, we’ve got her primary attack, and it’s a real doozy. She shoots out this intense beam of sun energy, and trust me, it’s not just for show. This beam means business, and it’s gonna deal some serious damage to anyone who crosses her path.
But that’s not all. Illari’s got some serious hops, and she’s not afraid to use ’em. With her leap ability, she can effortlessly soar to high ground, giving her a tactical edge and a bird’s-eye view of the action. Who needs stairs, right?
Now, here’s where the support side of things kicks in. Illari’s not one to leave her teammates hanging. She’s got this nifty little healing drone that sticks to walls like a champ. This drone’s like her trusty sidekick, zipping around and patching up wounds like it’s nobody’s business.
And if you thought that was impressive, just wait ’til you hear about her ultimate move. Illari’s gonna show off her acrobatic skills by launching herself into the air, and while she’s up there, she’s gonna unleash this explosive ball of energy that’s gonna make enemies think twice before messing with her crew.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Could there be more?” Well, there just might be. While the trailer gave us a taste of Illari’s incredible abilities, there’s a sneaky suspicion that she’s got one more trick up her sleeve.
Maybe a secondary fire on her gun that’ll really keep the opposition on their toes, just like the likes of Baptiste and Ana.
What’s coming in season 6?
Season 6, dubbed “Invasion,” is right around the corner, and it’s bringing a bunch of awesome stuff to the table. If you remember those pesky Null Sector robots from the game’s PvE missions, well, get ready because they’re the stars of the new battle pass.
Imagine decking out your favorite heroes with skins that ooze that cool evil robot vibe — and guess what? The trailer shows off a bunch of these skins, including one that lets you customize Ana’s look with a Mythic skin.
And yes, Ana lovers, brace yourselves — she’s transformed into a robot sniper support, complete with a white faceplate and a rather… well, eyeless appearance. Not quite my style — I’m more of a Cabana Ana fan — but hey, if Evil Bot Ana is your jam, go for it!
The “Invasion” season isn’t stopping there. It’s packing a whole bunch of new modes and maps that are going to keep you hooked. Let’s break it down:
Prepare to team up and take on three co-op PvE missions with a story twist, all for just $15.
Get ready for an epic co-op PvE event set right in the heart of King’s Row.
Ever tried a multi-capture point mode? Now’s your chance with “Flashpoint.”
New maps alert! Say hello to Junk City and Suravasa, tailor-made for the Flashpoint mode.
And for those looking to sharpen their skills, singleplayer hero mastery missions are on the horizon, coming your way next month.
But that’s not all! Remember the Anniversary event? Well, it’s back, and it’s in perfect sync with the sequel’s launch last October.
Get ready for a dose of nostalgia as limited-time Arcade modes from previous events make a return. Fingers crossed that Battle for Olympus makes a comeback — I know I’m crossing my fingers!
And hey, did you catch game director Aaron Keller’s blog post last week? He’s spilling the beans on some game-changing balance tweaks for season 6. Brace yourselves, tank enthusiasts — armor will now cap out at a 50% damage reduction. So when those sturdy tanks are right up in your grill, things should feel a bit more manageable.
And if you’ve been loving Lifeweaver, the support hero from Season 4, you’re in for a treat. He’s getting a boost in survivability, and his healing tree ult will now shower allies with up to 100 extra health if they’re already topped off.
Final Words
So mark your calendars, because Overwatch 2’s season 6 is going live this Thursday, and guess what?
It’s dropping right alongside its launch on Steam. Talk about an action-packed week ahead!
