Summary

Sahil Patel's new Medium publication, Reciprocal, emphasizes mutual support and engagement among writers, encouraging them to read, applaud, and comment on each other's work.

Abstract

Reciprocal, a publication by Sahil Patel, is designed to foster a sense of community among writers on Medium. It aims to create a space where writers not only share their own stories but also actively engage with their peers' work by reading, applauding, highlighting, and commenting on it. The publication's ethos is built on the concept of reciprocity, where writers are expected to support each other and contribute to a collaborative and interactive writing environment. Sahil, a prolific writer and editor of three Medium publications, requires submitters to tag three writers, highlight their work, and engage with fellow contributors. The initiative is seen as a way to maintain a consistent source of encouragement, support, and enjoyment within the writing community.

The importance of connection and reciprocity in writing cannot be emphasized enough

“There is one word which may serve as a rule of practice for all one’ s life — reciprocity.” — Confucious

I want to highlight an excellent new publication by Sahil Patel entitled Reciprocal.

Sahil is a prolific writer, an amazing poet, and the editor of three publications on Medium.

Reciprocal is looking for creators that are interested not only in writing stories and sharing their pieces with the Medium family but also in reading the work of their fellow writers.

In other words, the publication seeks writers who will read, applaud, highlight, and remark on the work of their peers.

According to Sahil, if you are not interested in engaging and connecting with your fellow contributors on this platform, this may not be the right publication for you.

Community

As a writer, you want other people to read your work. Thus, you should be willing to be receptive to other people’s insights conveyed via their writing.

It requires a strong sense of community to be a writer. Having a writer’s community is a great way to stay inspired to create, provide and receive support from other writers, and get feedback on your work.

Indeed, the writing community can be a consistent source of encouragement, support, and enjoyment.

Here are the submission requirements for Sahil’s new publication:

Shout Out the Work of 3 Writers

Another pub requirement is to tag three other writers and highlight one of their pieces.

I would like to recognize the work of three incredible writers, Pene Hodge, Umme Salma, and Danielle Hestand, who make a compelling case for joining Reciprocal.

Please do read their pieces when you get a chance.

Tag Medium Writers

We are also required to tag Medium writers with whom we have a connection in our first Reciprocal piece.

As a result, I’d like to extend an invitation to my Medium friends to participate in what looks to be an exciting new publication. Please accept my apologies if I missed anyone.
