I’m Excited about the Brand New Publication Reciprocal

Photo by Viktor Nikolaienko on Unsplash

After posting my first Medium article in October, I felt so ecstatic to see a comment on it the very next day. I felt even more thrilled when more people engaged with it. I feared that people who had never met me wouldn’t want to read my writings, but kind people in the Medium community proved me wrong.

Since then I’ve met many fantastic people on Medium, grown my audience, and read fascinating stories. I do all of this all while getting to write about topics that I care about and seeing that other people do as well. I appreciate my Medium community and all the support that you give me.

This is why I’m thrilled about Sahil Patel’s new publication Reciprocal. The point of it is to engage with and encourage other writers. You get to support other people at different stages in their journey and with varying levels of readership.

The publication explicitly requires its writers to read the works of other people on it which I think is amazing. In general, anyone who wants their writing read should consume stories that other people put up.

For anyone who joins, you are also expected to share at least three articles from other writers. It’s an opportunity to direct others to stories that they’ll enjoy and assist others with growing their audience and making connections. For anyone who would like to join, the process is to get added as a writer by Sahil Patel and then write a post tagging your connections after getting accepted.

I would like to thank my connections and supporters and invite you to join Reciprocal if doing so calls to you. I’m sorry if I miss anyone. I have enough fantastic connections and supporters on Medium that it’s hard to think of everyone on the spot; I think it’s a good problem to have. The names here appear in no particular order.
