While we are still reeling with shock from the Johnny Depp — Amber Heard scandalous court proceedings we may have to endure another lengthy legal battle, involving another celebrity.
As Latin music icon Ricky Martin battles allegations that he had an incestuous relationship with his nephew for which he had to go to court to prove his innocence as early as tomorrow — July 21, 2022.
If proven to be true, with Puerto Rico’s tough laws against domestic violence and incest, Ricky Martin could end up incarcerated for 50 years, technically spending the remaining days of his life in a Puerto Rican jail.
Ricky Martin is now 50.

July 2, 2022
On July 2nd, the Puerto Rican police confirmed that a protective order had been issued by a judge against Ricky Martin under Puerto Rico’s Law 54 otherwise known as the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act.
In a statement by the police to the Associated Press,
When they tried to serve the court order, they couldn’t locate Ricky Martin at his home in the town of Dorado.
Police spokesman Axel Valencia added,
“Up until now, police haven’t been able to find him,” Valencia said.
The complainant had not been identified at this point and initial reports were sketchy. Well-known news outlet El Vocero had verified that the complaint stems from a romantic relationship that had gone sour.
According to El Vocero, a Puerto Rican newspaper, the order states that Martin and the other party dated for seven months, and after they split up two months ago, the petitioner claims Martin refused to accept the separation and has been seen loitering near the petitioner’s house at least three times.
According to the order, “the petitioner fears for his safety.”
The 21-year-old complainant asked a judge to issue an ex parte protective order against Ricky Martin.
It meant the singer/actor will not be allowed to come near the complainant and had to appear in court to dispute the allegations of domestic abuse, which will help the judge decide if the protective order will become permanent or lifted under Puerto Rican laws.
July 3, 2022
The following day, Ricky Martin through his reps and lawyers had to issue a statement denying the claims of domestic abuse and also reiterating that the charges are completely false and fabricated.
“The allegations against Ricky Martin that lead to a protection order are completely false and fabricated,” “We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.” — reps told PEOPLE

According to the website Marca, Martin’s brother, Eric Martin, revealed on Friday that the accuser is the singer’s nephew and that they had a seven-month relationship.
His name is Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, there are some reports that 21-year-old Sanchez is the son of Ricky Martin’s step-sister which means that while he is his nephew, they are not blood-related.
And that is why the charges have become complicated, the case has become sensational and scandalous because it has become a domestic violence case with an aggravating circumstance of incest.
If the Puerto Rican courts find Martin guilty, he could be sentenced to 50 years in prison.

Ricky Martin started his singing career as a 12-year-old member of Menudo, the Latino equivalent of BTS during the 80s.
In the HBO documentary about Menudo — Menudo Forever Young, some members claimed they were raped, sexually assaulted, and physically harmed by adults who were part of the guy's management team and also by some unnamed co-members of the band.
The documentary will remind you of Jeff Epstein and Harvey Weinstein who were both convicted of their sexual crimes.
Both counts as friends some powerful names in politics, entertainment, and business — Bill Gates and Prince Andrew were among Jeff Epstein's friends.
Ricky Martin, long considered the golden boy of Menudo, didn’t participate in the filming of the documentary.

With the scandal, Martin’s participation in the new Apple TV+ series Mrs. American Pie could be affected but as of today, there is no official statement from the producer of the comedy series.
He is also busy promoting his new album, Play which was released on July 13.
Martin was announced as a co-star in the Apple TV+ comedy series Mrs. American Pie alongside Alison Janney, Laura Dern, Kristen Wiig, and Carol Burnett in March of this year.
The show, created by Abe Sylvia and directed by Tate Taylor, is based on Juliet McDaniel’s novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie, which is set in Palm Beach high society. Martin also appeared as Versace’s lover, model and designer Antonio D’Amico, in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story in 2018. — VanityFair report
Celebrity scandals usually mirror our society, domestic violence is a problem that affects men and women, we can only look back at what happened between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, it was ugly.
But while many victims of domestic violence are embarrassed by their situation, it is in their best interest to report or file a restraining order, many women are vulnerable and also have died, and while celebrity scandals bring forth the issue of domestic violence to the public discourse, not all victims get the justice they deserve and not all accused are guilty of their crimes.
It is best to hold our judgment until we have all the information to judge Ricky Martin guilty or innocent of his alleged crimes of domestic violence and incest.
Was it all a sexual fetish, a 21-year-old man having sex with a 50-year-old gay man? Who seduced who? The 50-year-old music icon or the young 21-year old and does it matter if both of them are consenting adults?
Relationships end all the time, many couples separate amicably, and some go through hell, go ask Johnny Depp.
Distraught, desperate, and vindictive but the court has to decide who is guilty and who is the victim— the nephew or Ricky Martin?
