Clothes Optional My First Nude Beach Experience, Not as Bad as Adam Sandler’s

What have you done for love? For me, a lot of stupid things. And if it wasn’t for my ex, I wouldn’t have experienced going au naturel on a nude beach somewhere in St. Maarten.

Looking back, I should have ended the relationship long before we got to St. Maarten but don’t we all, always have a 20/20 vision in hindsight?

And that ‘day’ was the only memory I have left of St. Maarten — the airport, the beach, the nude pictorial, and the sex.

The Caribbean

The only reason I have a lot of travel stories is that I worked on cruise ships. Luckily, my contracts were great and I got to see at least 100 countries for which I will be forever grateful. Nothing beats going to another country to learn that we are all the same — skin color, the language we speak, and gender identity only define our individuality, not our humanity.

I tried to avoid doing the Caribbean not because I don’t like it but to avoid doing 7-day cruises, it was too much work as a photographer.

My ex asked me to give him another chance, like any other fool in love, I requested the head office to be on the same ship as he was and partly because half of that contract will sail to Europe, a dream destination.

Yes, the beaches are beautiful, the waters are as blue as the sky, and the people are as warm as my people back home.

And then there was St. Maarten.

Things to do in St. Maarten

I never knew what was in store for me when my ex told me we would be exploring St. Maarten on our first cruise together.

In the video above, the YouTuber shared 14 amazing activities a tourist can try to do while in St. Maarten. I only ended up doing two on the list.

Of all the activities she mentioned, I only remember the plane watching at Maho Beach and the visit to the nude beach, to which I can’t be 100% sure but it is likely the Orient Beach, as there are few of these beaches at St. Maarten — where clothes are optional.

Plane Watching at Maho Beach

My ex was into anything adventurous. By the time we were at St. Maarten, he was having a mid-life crisis. He can't accept the fact that he was 40 years old, and that he missed out on a lot of things as a gay man.

The price he had to pay for getting married to a woman at a young age and only because of his Christian faith.

As a photographer he expected me to take a nice shot of him as he clung himself to the barrier separating the beach from the airport runway. To me, it was a dangerous stunt but he never asked me if I wanted to do it, he expected me to do as he pleased.

In fact, a few years back a woman died at Maho beach, doing the same thing — — plane watching.

Orient Beach

It was likely Orient Beach as it is the closest to Maho Beach, where I had my first nude beach experience.

As far as I can remember, it was a nice beach. But it was obvious it wasn't the first time for my ex to be at the nude beach. He had done several contracts in the Caribbean.

He led me to a spot, a small cave, and as soon as we got settled, he took all of his clothes and again asked me to do a pictorial — not an ordinary portrait session but a nude portrait session.

Again, he didn’t ask if I wanted to do it, he made me do it, as he pleased.

Later on, I would find out he shared his nudes with my best friend.

He asked me to take my clothes off, I would try anything once, and it wasn’t a problem.

It was liberating.

Soon after, a random guy joined us in our cave, I had a feeling it was all arranged, that he wanted to share me with another man.

That is how I would remember St. Maarten, my first and my only visit to a nude beach.

Adam Sandler

In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show to promote Hustle his latest film on Netflix, he talked about his experience on a nude beach somewhere in Spain as he was shooting Hustle. It didn't end well for Adam Sandler.

“They’re all feeling great about themselves being nude and no one even cares. There’s older people nude. Young, old…people who look good, people who don’t look so good nude,” “They don’t care. They just feel comfortable.” — Sandler told Fallon.

Let’s just say the Spanish seagulls mistook his privates as treats, the comedy is better told by Sandler himself.

“The Spanish seagull — I think it translated to the word ‘worm’ — starts coming towards me,” he quipped. “Then one of the other seagulls — ‘No, no worm!’ And then a third seagull goes, ‘McDonald french fry!’ So they started coming at me…I gave it to them! I was a guest in their country, I said, ‘You have a good time!’” — Sandler to Fallon

In closing, the best way to know a person is by traveling together. Soon after my first nude beach outing with my ex, I broke up with him for the last time. I saw Europe on my own, and it was one of my best experiences.

Then as I know now, being alone doesn't mean being lonely.

Looking back at St. Maarten my nude beach adventure while tragic didn't end up with me being eaten by Spanish seagulls as Adam Sandler experienced in his first nude beach outing. So, it wasn’t that bad at all.
