PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Reflections
4th Week of October
Day 1
I noticed a bright orange sunrise peeking through the yellow-ish orange fall leaves. I tried to capture it in a photo, but the lighting wasn’t working and I needed to get going. I drove off toward the gray sky. I glanced in my side mirror and the sunrise was reflecting brilliantly right there.
The scene made me think of reflecting at this time of year. I thought about trying to edit the dirt off my mirror but it is representative of the dust in my life. Hopefully, it won’t always be there, it is there now. Honest reflection is the only way to make room for growth.
Day 2
I was taking a photo of my garden for another story I was writing. When I came inside to reflect on the photos, I noticed the sunset in the background. I ran back out to get one more photo. In less than a minute the scene was drastically muted. I am so thankful to have experienced this.

Day 3
Driving past the Philadelphia Art Museum reminded me of the story about art I have drafted. This led to reflecting on a lot of stories I had drafted. Several got a little polish and were published this week. The beautiful architecture of the Art Museum is just a hint at what lies within. One of the other stories that I will publish soon is actually about finding awe in architecture.

Day 4
Traffic hadn't been bad so I was early for work. I went around the block to take in this vantage point for a few minutes. The twisted trunk of the tree on the left and the just turning treetop on the right reminded me to think about pacing and pathways as we make changes. Even the twisted tree trunk holds a strong tree. In time the tree on the right will be shining brightly too.

Day 5
This maple pumpkin harvest soup I made was delicious. I intended to add some of the sugar snap peas that I grew, but I ate them all on the deck and had to use store-bought ones. I wrote my garden reflections and I am motivated to grow more of my own harvest next year for an even tastier soup.

Day 6
Another sunrise. It was a hundred times more vibrant than it appears in the photo. It’s a reminder to take in the sunrise the next time we get a chance. Check online to make sure the timing just right. It reminds me of the feeling when you know you are exactly where you are supposed to be.

Day 7
The other day traffic stopped me right at this spot. I loved the transition of color spreading across the tree. Again, a great reflection about the pacing of change. I usually need to hear and think about ideas more than once to fully embrace them and put them into practice.
Also, I am always intrigued by the little red doors on this church. Especially interesting is the little one leading to the top of the bell tower. I wonder if it is in use. I wonder what the view is like from up there.

Thanks for reading! I hope everyone finds time for reflecting and wondering!

A Photo-A-Day October:
(In reflecting I realized I jumped ahead a week, so I labeled two weeks the second week of October to get back on track.)
