Reflecting on the Changing Face Of Porn
Extreme scenarios were/are played out, and I have wondered how this craze may affect the views and opinions of young men and women today…
Porn is often viewed as a dirty word, but it has been around in various forms forever. From statues, to risqué post cards, on to reel-to-reel movies and so on… And of course it really took on momentum with the arrival of the printing press!
But this is not a history lesson… Unless you consider May More’s induction into the world of porn a good topic for history.
The idea of porn is surely an individual concept. What one person finds sexually arousing may not elicit such a response in another. And this is without mentioning fetishes.
Inevitably… your porn — may not be similar to mine…
Introduction
As we all know, porn is short for pornography.
the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures, or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement.
For this article I am going to mention my journey with porn, which led to my own perception about the good, the bad, and the ugly with regard to this controversial topic.
Early Years
As a young teen I had a fascination with porn magazines. This was in the very early 80s when I found a stash of them under my older brother’s bed. I made it part of my education to read them before I went to school in the morning. He was up and gone to work at 7am. I learned so much from the stories. It was like an anatomy lesson. Not to mention finally finding out there was more than one way to skin a cat! Hand jobs, oral sex — which had really specific names; cunnilingus and fellatio.
This early morning read, taught me more than any human biology lesson at school.
Then, when I was fifteen I was baby sitting for a policeman’s family. Now he possessed some very interesting literature. First I found hoards of booklets about crimes and criminology. When I searched a little further I uncovered a whole stash of older porn magazines kept on top of a tall cabinet — away from the prying eyes of his kids.
I systematically went through these each time I baby sat. I already knew certain stuff. But I did find the reading material insightful and entertaining. Not only that, some of the images were very classy. I managed to persuade the policeman to let my friend help me out on a couple of occasions, and once we’d managed to get the two boys to stop trying to see up our skirts and go to bed, we both scoured the publications together.
I noted a few things — in general, the penis was very large. And when I started handling my first boyfriend’s cock, a few years later, I could see this was true. Of course, as I gained experience, I realised that in reality the penis differs greatly in size.
But what they all had in common was the ability to leave a mess if you played with them…
Friends
My boyfriend, Jim, and I were part of a peer group. There were about eight of us. Jim had left school at sixteen and worked with men! They lent him some of their vintage porno movies. Most were made in the 70s.
This was great as we watched the dirty films in a group and started talking about sex in detail from a young age without embarrassment. Consequently, I have never been scared of asking what I want sexually from a guy.
But just because you ask does not mean you get.
However, the movies from Jim’s work were hilariously bad. But looking back, I kind of liked them. They were not all about the act. Most had some shifty story entwined, and to be honest the sex was not sexy at all. Nothing particularly enterprising happened. Mainly just intercourse. The guy always seemed to come inside the woman. So not very enlightening but still it’s an experience I’m glad I had.
Side — When I first saw John Travolta swaggering down the street in Saturday Night Fever I was quite young. But to me the way he walked looked like sex.
Getting Older and Kink
A transgressive movie that had a huge impact on my kinky mind — yet a kink I will never experience — is Going Places. A French film starring Gérard Depardieu. The two main male characters are depraved in many ways. This was one of the reasons I was so taken with the film. The way they treated women was abhorrent but compelling to watch.
A scene that has been at the heart of many a sexual fantasy of mine is when one of them feasts on the breast milk of a young mother. I am not sure why I found this extremely hot. I have never been overly maternal, but in my mind there was something incredibly sexy about an adult taking both sustenance and pleasure from a breast.
So this type of porn worked for me but is certainly not mainstream.
At the end of the day porn likes and dislikes will be very individual and based on a person's life experiences.
Before my partner and I got together, my kinky side was not being nurtured, so I often sought out online porn. Because of having such a healthy view from my growing up years, I never felt guilty or shameful about this.
My favourite clips were not very polite scenes of bondage. However, I was quite surprised how the online videos were so different to the vintage movies I had enjoyed when younger. Extreme scenarios were/are played out, and I have wondered how this craze may affect the views and opinions of young men and women today. It would be easy for them to come to the sexual table with unrealistic ideas about sex. Similar, but far more dangerous, to me thinking cocks were all large.
Busman’s Holiday
Nowadays, because I frequently write erotica and also curate and edit a publication with many sexy tales, I view porn as a bit of a busman’s holiday.
I’ve never really minded if partners check out porn scenes. I can’t see what the big deal is… I don’t think I should fulfil every desire in them myself or own their orgasms. As long as they don’t choose porn over me and keep communication open, then I don’t have a problem. And let’s be frank, May More, can’t really get overly moral on this topic…
