Quick Midjourney Update: 4 key highlights to know (11th October 2023)
Keeping up with the rapid changes and developments
Here’s a quick rundown of the most recent Midjourney Weekly Office Hours:
(1) Midjourney V5.3, V5.4
- A basic upscaler could be available by the end of this week. The resolution will be at least twice as high as it is now.
- Different upscaler versions are being considered: subtle (preserve the original), creative (more dramatic changes), and imaginative.
- Personality tests are being developed but have yet to be ready for release.
- The goal is to release new features regularly.
(2) Midjourney V6
- Image quality, aesthetics, and resolution will be significantly improved in V6. Significant differences exist in the code, architecture, and data compared to V5.
- It’s difficult to predict the release date (end of November?).
(3) Ongoing and future projects
- The developers are exploring both 2D and 3D platforms. With the addition of new video datasets, 3D features are progressing.
- A standalone website and a mobile app are in the works. The website phases are similar to the previous update.
(4) Bonus content
Six prompts for bringing Halloween magic to life by Geeky Animals
- Begin crafting the prompt with one of these phrases:
a movie still photograph, a cinestill photograph, a cinematic photograph, an action photograph
- Use one of the following keywords:
conjuring holographic accessories, casting spells in the air, infusing magic into a crystal ball, creating magical fireworks, brewing love potions, witches flying broomsticks
- The phrase “dynamic action” is useful for generating subject action.
- For the “brewing love potions” prompt, the word “futuristic” can make the photo more colorful.
- It is difficult to make the witches ride and fly on the broomsticks in Midjourney V5.2 with direct prompting. The prompt efficiency is marginal. Consider it a “magical moment” if you manage to create such photo.
- Always check the subject’s fingers twice. To correct any abnormal anatomy, use inpainting Vary (Region).
