I’m writing a feature article each day to discuss and illustrate the innovative ways we are collaborating on Illumination.

To keep it interesting, I’ll shine a light on solutions to some of your difficulties and answer any questions that come to me each day.

I’ll also share one of the many ways I have discovered to connect with fellow writers and readers.

Well hello there.

In case we’ve never met, I’m Tree Langdon, an editor here at Illumination. I’m continuously inspired by the talented writers I’ve met here. I’d really like to get to know you too.

Writers Can Make Meaningful Change!

There are some trail blazing, collaborative projects being developed at Illumination.

Dr Mehmet Yildiz has created a new way for us to share information and collaborate. Here’s the story:

The Oracle Speaks — An Illumination Project.

Are you ready to receive guidance?

Infiniti is a Medical Medium, holistic practitioner and Spirit Guide. She’s the creator of this interesting project and she’s inviting people who are familiar with Oracle cards and those who are brand new to join in.

She works with Oracle cards and has found it’s an easy, effective and empowering experience that anyone can have. The cards provide guidance to life’s mysteries and can strengthen your spiritual connections.

She hopes for individual and community discovery as well.

No training or abilities are required; all that’s needed is the intention for higher awareness.

This well thought out article clearly explains the process and why you might consider this approach to getting in touch with your inner guidance.

This project was created as a space to share Oracle messages and to learn from each other.

You will also benefit from meeting a diverse group of like-minded individuals and you’ll be building your network.

How does Curation Work?

Here’s my take on curation from when I was a new writer.

The key to a meaningful conversation includes both speaking and listening.

A meaningful conversation between writers includes reading, responding, sharing and appreciation.

When I first started writing on Medium I struggled with the platform. It wasn’t as intuitive as a Word document. It took me awhile to figure how to make it work for me and I’m still learning.

Let’s share our experiences and learn from one another.

I received a great question from a reader of yesterday’s bulletin.

Is there a way to bring over half-space formatting from Google Docs or Word when you paste your work into the Medium editor?

I think I understand the question. I’ve always been frustrated when I copy a Word document with single spaces into Medium and the result is a double space. I set about to find the answer.

Here’s my first attempt. I typed the following text into a Word document with paragraph setting at single line space and before and after space is set to zero. Just like it says in my text below.

I copied it from Word and used Paste. This was the disappointing result:

Test half space formatting for a paragraph of text this setting is at single line spacing and before and after are zero.

So when I hit enter, its tight and no space above and below

Here’s another entered line.

For my next attempt, I copied the exact same text from Word and used Paste as plain text.

Here was the result:

Writers Connect to Build Engagement!

As a lifelong learner, I gather new ideas by observing how other writers engage with their readers. In this section of my bulletin I will share what I have learned.

Set aside a bit of time to read.

We get caught up in creating posts and sharing them on social media. Instead of taking a lot of time to share outside of Medium, try spending time getting to know your fellow writers.

Read one of Dr Mehmet Yildiz’s writer interviews and get to know the writer.

Make a connection by highlighting one thing that surprises or resonates with you.

Check out the writer’s profile page and choose an article that interests you.

When you read the article, highlight and comment. Tell them that you found them through their interview and mention something they shared. Be sure to follow them as well.

Here’s a lovely writer that I recently met from reading his interview:

Ali Qutmiera is a young man living in the Bay Area. He writes about some pretty complicated topics and he has a broad range of interests.

I poked around on his profile, checking his responses and highlights and was pleased to see that we have several writers in common! One of my favorite poets is one of his favorites as well.

One excellent story about Tunisia interested me:

Ali writes very thoughtful poetry as well:

Ali is someone who engages with other writers and if you begin a conversation with him, I’m sure he will reply.

It was great to explore Ali’s writing and get to know him a bit from his interview.
