OpenAI Just Freed ChatGPT … And Opened The Floodgates
Brace For The Artificial Agent Revolution

You’ll read it everywhere: The model that drives OpenAI’s record-breaking AI app ChatGPT is now available to everyone!
And its price has dropped tenfold.
Get ready for lots of apps, research, and AI madness in the near future!
Why Is This Huge?
The new model is called gpt-3.5-turbo. It has driven the hype around ChatGPT and is now available and customizable to everyone via an API (i.e. a few lines of code). With public access to the “ChatGPT API”, OpenAI opens the door for developers and researchers to independently experiment with the strongest language model currently available (but Meta/Facebook is catching up).
Here’s what the updated documentation (available here) has to say:

“Simulated characters for video games”, artificial “tutors”, and “conversational agents”! The floodgates have been opened.
OpenAI’s move to simultaneously lower the price of using their AI powerhouse by a factor of ten shows the direction they want to take with this: Stimulate innovation in chatbots and conversational interfaces based on OpenAI tech. This is a sweet and perfectly timed move given their competitors' trench warfare and publicity problems.
What Else?
Remember that when using ChatGPT we agreed that all our conversations with the chatbot could be used for further training of the model? Well, that’s over now. With the release of gpt-3.5-turbo OpenAI changed its data usage policy: saving and using user data is off by default, however, you can opt-in when you want.
And if that wasn’t hype fodder enough, we also get Whisper, OpenAI’s powerful speech-to-text model, as an API on top.
Oh, happy day.
Enjoy another day of wonders in the dawn of the AI age, my friends.
