Ontario Odyssey
Weeks 4–5 of our camping road trip

Time flies
This trip has gone by so fast and has been such a blur, I have to consult my itinerary to remember where we’ve been! We’re having so much fun, I can’t believe we’ll be back home in just over a week.
We had to adapt to some changes in our plans due to unforeseen circumstances, but it all worked out. We stayed at a private campground near New Hamburg, Ontario, called Nith River.
Nith River Campground
It wasn’t as private and secluded as I like, but Nith River was family-friendly, and the owner was very kind and helpful. They have a huge swimming pool, volleyball and basketball courts, hiking trails, a catch-and-release fishing pond, horseshoe pits, and a cool playground.
My son had a blast. He met some kids to play with and spent most of his time running around with them. The park is small, so it was easy to keep an eye on him while working around the campsite, or relaxing and reading a book (or several).
I also had fun taking my mini-me on some adventures in the forest:

Farmview Tiny Cabins
Next, I splurged on a tiny cabin. We stayed here last year by fluke and absolutely loved it, so we made a point of returning.
Farmview has adorable little cabins and recently added on outdoor showers! These are incredible. They are equipped with propane water heaters, so you get a private hot shower while still enjoying the fresh air.
The main reasons we were drawn here were the scenery and the animals. Farmview has many beautiful ponds, perfect for relaxing or fishing. They have beautiful horses, miniature ponies, and adorable goats.
(No, I’m not getting paid for this review, I just genuinely really like this place!).
We finally met back up with my husband, who is joining us for the last week of our trip.

The home stretch
We’ve been on the road for a month, in addition to our 2 1/2 week long trip at the beginning of the summer, and I can honestly say I am not even eager to get home yet.
I miss my friends and my dogs (and having my own bathroom), but otherwise I feel like I could do this for another month. I love being outdoors, I love the relaxed pace of camping life, and I love all this time we get to spend as a family.
We have one more week to soak it all in before we have to return to reality, and my son has to go back to school, so we’ll definitely make the most of it.
Wishing you all a happy summer!
