You recognize this. Alice in Wonderland. She followed the rabbit and all went well, right? Plus, this rabbit had a bee-shaped tattoo. For some reason, this bee theme keeps coming up and you’re starting to realize that it might be related.
Besides, it’s sweltering hot! Hopefully, following the rabbit down the rabbit hole will allow you some relief. Maybe you can decline to play the game after all. Maybe there’s a bigger game out there.
You dive into the hole that the rabbit disappears into.
To your surprise, you don’t fall at all. You expected a long, dirty tunnel and to land with a thud at the end. You expected that terrible pit-in-the-stomach feeling you get from falling, a feeling you’ve always hated, which is why you never liked roller coasters. You didn’t feel it.
It was almost like you didn’t move at all. You were still there, surrounded by dark. Maybe your eyes were still adjusting from the bright flashy lights outside?
There was no anchor. No floor. No ceiling. No up, no down. Left? Could I turn left?
Surprisingly, with a gentle wiggle of the butt, you swivelled a little bit to the left. Finally, your eyes were met with some lights to prove that they were still working.
You see the tracing of a square, formed by lights. Nothing more. The rabbit was nowhere to be seen.
Options
- Swim “upwards” so that you get back to the convenience store. Your friend is waiting for you there anyways. Wait, what was her name again?
- Swim “through” the square. Surely it has a hole for some reason.
- Call out to the rabbit who led you into this mess. Be angry. Big scream. Ask why bees are involved. Demand answers.
