They’re behind you

Gail picks you up at 4 pm which gives you enough time to get the Mcdonald’s that has been requested. You brought the marshmallow along in case it becomes important somehow.

“So, are we going to see what all this weirdness is about?”

You nod enthusiastically. Reaching around the backseat of the beat-up Toyota, you find a concealed baseball bat. Gail sneaks a look at you and shrugs her shoulders.

“We gotta be prepared poppet! This person could be an absolute psycho who’s going to murder us,” Gail laughs.

You hit her shoulder playfully. You reach the Mcdonald’s and you place your order for the McMuffin. There is a five-minute wait so Gail takes you to the back of the parking lot where you have a clear view of the designated meeting spot. An employee brings out the Mcdonald’s bag, but they indicate that there is something extra inside.

You reach in the greasy brown packaging and pull out a cerulean blue origami crane.

“It says open me,” Gail quips.

Opening up the paper, a little note is written inside.

“We’re behind you”
