My Love For The Woods
Walk in the woods nature prompt

Trees are my haven. They bring peace to my soul.
Last weekend I was driving home and there was a sign for an estate sale on the road. I did not need anything in particular and I still felt a pull to stop by. As I was driving up the hill where the house was I was surrounded by beautiful trees. The estate sale was in a huge building next to the house. The people were very kind and I found a few items that I could use. I got a few candles, and some paint, I found a pair of pants that I could use when working outside in the garden and a nice small quilt I could hang up in my office at work. For all these items I paid $2.50.
I had a lovely conversation with the people who lived there and they told me the items they are selling are the accumulation from 3 generations. Some of the items were from their parents and grandparents. It was simply too much to keep. I thanked them for their time and kindness and was walking out of the barn when I saw it. One of the most amazing redwood trees I had seen. It was just standing right in front of me.
I was standing with awe for a few minutes.
A beautiful redwood right in front of me.

I turned my car around and asked the people living there if it would be all right to take a few pictures. One of the ladies took a picture of me as well. I was walking around and taking pictures from different angles. The tree is so tall it is difficult to capture all of the trees in one picture.

My day was fulfilled with finding this tree, walking around it, and touching the tree. The lady living there who took the photo of me told me that the tree was planted when they were little. The people living there are in their late 60’s to 70’s. It is amazing what becomes from a small tree in 50–60 years.

I love to be around trees and when it comes to redwoods I am in love. I enjoy watching them, walking amongst the beautiful trees, and taking pictures of them. I think they are astonishingly beautiful. Seeing this redwood tree reminded me again of my trip to the redwoods in California and my most recent trip to see Dr. Preeti Singh in Albany when we went up to the botanical garden in Berkley and walked amongst the wonderful redwoods they had in a separate area above the gardens.

I am grateful I found this amazing tree close to my neighborhood last weekend. I am also grateful that I had been able to see the amazing redwood forest on the California coast and the small tree plantation in the Berkley botanical garden with Dr. Preeti Singh. I hope I will be able to have more of these great experiences and walk amongst beautiful trees like the one I found last weekend.
