My Best Articles of the Last Weeks

July is coming to an end, and I look back on many articles that really mean something to me. Some of them have reached a lot of readers, while others have remained almost unseen. Every day thousands of articles are published on Medium, so readers often miss something that would have been worth reading.

I am not one of those authors who want to please only a small group of readers on this platform. Writing in a niche is not my thing. There are simply too many topics that interest me and on which I have something to say.

In July, I again dealt with a great variety of topics. Here is my selection of articles I would like to recommend to you.

First of all, I chose a piece that was curated by Medium under two topics. It is about the fact that today a man no longer has to be under pressure to earn more than his wife. A modern partnership is characterized by equality and by abandoning outdated gender roles.

The next article I would like to recommend to you asks how we can increase the moments of happiness we experience when we have reached a goal. Often it is only the significant milestones that really satisfy us. But with this attitude, we make life unnecessarily difficult for ourselves. What about all the small successes that make our great triumphs possible?

I live in Germany and am aware that the international audience on Medium must find many things strange, which are standard in my home country. The next article is about the German drinking culture and my personal experiences with it. In this context, I will deal with the question of whether it is better to issue bans or give people more personal responsibility.

A n article that has found fewer readers than most of the others I have written this month is particularly dear to my heart. Many coaches and self-help gurus recommend that you write a letter to your younger self to reflect on yourself. What would I tell my younger self? What should I have known before, what I know now. What should I have known previously, what I know now. I’ve come to a different answer than most guidebooks.

Do you like crossword puzzles? Yes? And what about quiz shows? Do you like them? Actually, most people love both. Crossword puzzles and quiz shows have been around for decades. No trend can touch them. Why is that?

It’s summer, and in the evenings I like to sit on the terrace with my wife for hours. I have noticed that some of our neighbors are not as concerned about their privacy as one would expect. I found the topic fascinating and thought about it. This article was the result.

The last article on my list was written on a day when I decided that my health is more important to me than self-optimization. If I had reflected less, my decision would have differed, and I would have taken a risk that I might have regretted later.

I hope that one or the other of these articles will reach some readers who otherwise would never have known about it. In these fast-moving times, something as small as a single article is forgotten faster than a mayfly.

But for me, every single one of them means something. Maybe you, too, will find one of them useful or inspiring.
