Monday Routine to Set Yourself for a Perfect Week
Go from weekend relaxation to deep work and productivity.
Recently, I’ve noticed the difference between each day of the week and their different meanings for building a perfect week.
What is the difference between these days if you have the same amount of time, weather, etc?
I must agree with you. But let me give a small example.
Let’s compare Tuesday and Saturday. Have you ever similarly spent these days?
We rarely have similar Tuesdays and Saturdays (even if some of us work on weekends). These days are psychologically different.
For me, it’s the same as comparing morning and evening. Same approach here; we have the start and end of the week.
The start of the week is good for deep, hard work, and the end is more for relaxation and enjoyment.
Let’s start on Monday, and then in the following articles (if you like this), we’ll continue to investigate each day of the week by their psychology and principles.
Monday
Monday is the first day of the week. It’s a time when we go back to work. You could have a great weekend or even a vacation, but Monday is like the start of the new cycle.
Often, we feel tired at this time, especially after an energy weekend. Have you ever thought how wonderful it would be to get one more weekend?
So, usually, Monday is the most unproductive day of the week compared to others. , Tuesdays and Wednesdays were usually much more productive days.
Why do we have such a correlation?
The main problem with Mondays is that we don’t want to think about the next week, sleep earlier, and make other preparations on Sunday.
And also we are lazy. Yes, we like it; even if we love productivity, our brains deeply love laziness because it saves energy and resources.
That’s why, first of all, we have to take care of ourselves and change our view for this day. To learn how, let’s investigate the best cases of perfect Mondays.
Productivity Monday Routine
Have you ever seen a Garfield movie? The main character, a lazy red cat, always said, “I hate Mondays.”
Many of us think the same. I never liked these days since I was a child and visited school, then at university, and now at work.
Weekends are great, but what can we do to make the same with other days?
First, having a good night’s sleep before and relaxing on Sundays is good. We will talk more about Sunday routines in a separate article.
The best things we can do on Monday morning:
- Exercises. It could be Yoga, Stretching, Power Training, etc. This routine will help you to refresh your body and mind and get more energy and desire to act. It is essential to move more to get off laziness and get energy for the whole day.
- Breakfast. Eat healthy food, especially one that will give you energy for half of the day. As for me, I like an English breakfast, but I often like to experiment. Decide what you would like to eat in the morning. Another option is to go to the cafe and get everything there.
- Mindfulness Activities. It’s good to do some self-reflection like journaling, meditation, breathing. It is not necessary to spend a lot of time on this; 5–10 minutes should be enough. Also, the #1 recommendation for beginners is to start with something small, like ten deep breaths.
- Day Planning. If you have a plan, then it’s much easier to execute. It is better to do it in the evening the day before. But it’s also OK to do it in the morning.
- Read or Listen. If you have more time and like books, then spending at least several minutes on this is good. Reading is a fantastic thing that allows us to get good ideas. Another way is to listen to audiobooks or podcasts.
- Music. If you feel tired and upset and want energy and a good mood, turn on your favorite music. It has a good dopamine effect and will also help you to get into the Monday with a whole pack of energy.
- Watch. Depending on your inner state, you can watch videos on YouTube that will help you solve your tasks or questions, whether from educational materials to entertainment, relaxation, or even motivation.
Day Planning
The most important part of the day is planning. With a plan, it’s easier to execute, especially on Mondays.
Select 3–4 most important tasks for your day and plan their execution with as many details as possible.
If you get a plan and understand what you need to do, it’s much easier to get things done.
Waking Up
Wake up! It’s another essential step of your day. You must feel energy and be ready for your day.
Nobody wants to see tired people around themselves. It would help if you worked on it.
Make your morning routine, exercise, and eat. You are not a machine, but most things you need:
- Charge
- Clean
- Plan
- Execute
Take care of your body and brain. Drink water, tea or coffee. Eat something, and now you are ready.
Execution
Now you are ready! At this point, you only need to care about how to execute your tasks best.
Here, you should apply everything from the productivity world. It may be everything like:
- 2 minutes rule
- Pomodoro technique
- 80/20 rule
- Full focus mode
- No distractions
I can only add some possible ways to execute on 1000% here, but if you are interested, I can add additional materials below.
Take Care of Yourself
Being productive is fantastic. We have our responsibilities and should be the best at our execution.
We should take care of ourselves in the best possible way because productivity comes only from people in the best condition.
So, don’t forget to do the following things:
- Do sport activities
- Eat healthy food
- Get mindfulness in your life (journaling, meditation, breathing, etc)
- Learn new skills (read books, watch online courses, etc.)
- Have a rest
Summary
Is Monday a so tricky day? It depends. Sometimes it may be good, and sometimes we feel so tired. But even in these conditions, we can still care for ourselves and control the whole process.
With the right actions and attitude, we can make Mondays the most productive days and feel amazing.
Start working on yourself, and appreciate your time. It’s the most valuable thing in the world.
