Mojang Is Doing Another Mob Vote For The Next Major Minecraft Update

So far, we know the first mob is a crab.

In some of my past stories, I’ve chatted about all sorts of stuff related to Minecraft. You can find those linked at the end of this post. But today, I want to dive into the exciting annual mob vote for the next big Minecraft update.

It’s that time of year again! Minecraft is back with its awesome tradition of letting us, the players, have a say in what cool creature gets added to the game in its next big update. That’s right, the mob vote is making a return for 2023, and it’s got us all buzzing with excitement.

So, mark your calendars because on October 15, just before the yearly Minecraft Live show, we’ll get the chance to cast our votes for the next big mob addition.

Now, let’s talk about the first contender for this year’s mob vote — the crab. These little critters call the mangrove swamp biome their home. What’s the buzz about these crabs, you ask? Well, according to Mojang, these crabs might drop something called a “crab claw” when you defeat them. And what does this crab claw do, you wonder?

It’s a game-changer for all you builders out there. It allows players to place blocks at a distance from themselves. Think of it like one of those long, extendable grabby hooks you might see in real life. No more running around scaffolding just to place a block on the other side of your project. It’s all about convenience.

But wait, there’s more! Mojang is keeping the other two mob candidates under wraps for now. However, they’re planning to unveil them in their very own animated shorts this week.

This year’s theme for the videos is all about boats, so it’s highly likely we’ll see some ocean-themed creatures in the mix. Can you imagine the possibilities? An underwater mob to add some spice to your aquatic adventures? Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?

Now, onto the nitty-gritty of how you can participate. Starting on October 13, you’ll have a full 48 hours to cast your vote. You can head over to Minecraft.net, open up your game launcher, or join a special public Minecraft: Bedrock server created just for this occasion, just like they did last year.

The voting frenzy will continue right up until the start of Minecraft Live, where they’ll finally reveal the winner. It’s a nail-biting wait, but oh so worth it.

Final Words

So, gear up, fellow miners and builders, because it’s time to make your voice heard in the Minecraft universe.

The mob vote is back, and the excitement is off the charts. Will it be the crab, the mystery candidates, or something else entirely?

We’ll find out soon enough. Stay tuned for Minecraft Live on October 15, and may the best mob win!
