So if you look up articles about fake accounts you see that there are a kajillion so you could spend all your time reporting fake accounts on FB and Twitter.
Today I did something interesting
Like a professional Catfish catcher I reverse looked up a pic of a woman texting me over FB Messenger.
She or he was good and they seemed real to me
I looked at her photos and there were LOTS of provocative shots.
At one point she asked me what I was doing and I said “Don’t send me an adult webcam link” and she started to act like she did not understand.
I was pretty straight up so there was no reason for her not to understand.
So with that suspicious element of the exchange, which was full of meaningless flirting by me, not like I was telling her my sensitive info, anyway, Google Reverse Look Up will look up images for free.
I made the mistake of joining SocialCatfish for $5.99 and looked up the photo there and found the photo on a Russian escort service. Not an American like she was claiming to be when talking to me.
I found her on Instagram too
And she had her fake profile since a long time ago.
The Social Catfish service is like what you see in the movies. They examine the photo like they are using lasers in the movies and are the FBI or something and then you get a police lineup of a bunch of similar women’s photos from websites with her features.
Then you compare them side by side
This woman’s pic had a tattoo so it was easy for me to find her.
Yep, she’s not from this country, whoever they are!
A second try
I complained to Searching for Singles that they are a scam and I wanted my money back.
They said it was legal what they were doing, and it very well could be.
That’s how the world works. It’s unfair but no one cares it seems.
So I put a photo in a free one called https://tineye.com. Much better than Google reverse search.
I found a photo from a message I got from Searching for Singles
They message to me all say they are anxious to hook up.
So I put the photo in the tineye.com and voila!
Where did it come from, Evan?
An amateur porn thread from some website I never heard of where you could torrent it.
I figured them out
So this is the state of what’s going on online.
You will be fooled by fake accounts first.
You will have to get used to this bs.
You will lose money joining these crap sites.
But at least you now have a useful and implementable tool to use when you get a catfish message!
Yay!
Onward and upward, folks!
Here’s a sad video about Tinder that you should watch to realize how dangerous it is.
