Formatting

While all of you are using great titles I’ve noticed that a few of you are a tad shy about using kickers. The kicker precedes the title of your article and is best described as a hook or classification tool. Using a kicker will optimise search results to help lead traffic your way. It takes only a few seconds to action your kicker.

Simply kick back a space upwards from your main title to produce the option for a kicker. Type your text. Highlight and click on the small T.

For examples of how a kicker can be used please view any of my stories or articles.

PROMPTS FOR OUR MUSERS & SCRIBERS!

Before we move on to our featured writers and their stories, I’d like to give a big shout-out to Ashllyn T. who had these lovely words for our publication:

‘I want to extend my gratitude to you and your team for creating The Scriber’s Nook, a platform that celebrates creativity, fosters community, and promotes meaningful engagement. 📚✍️🌟’

Thank you, Ashllyn, it means a lot to us! Take a peek at Ashllyn’s page, she has lots to offer on topics such as personal growth, health, lifestyle, pets, and more.

The Scriber’s Nook has become a haven of varied, interesting, and eclectic offerings. Here are just some of them.

Sujit Chakraborty’s ‘Down Memory Lane’ reflects on personal fears and anxieties.

Our Favourite Quote from ‘Down Memory Lane’:

Rainy days are here again, every day calling me to join. I’m tied with an invisible chain …

Milana Marsenich is a Western author who writes about books, dogs, and good living.

‘Promise — Winter 1917, Butte, Montana’ is narrated by Marika in the form of a monologue. Marika’s father has just told her that he’s promised her in marriage to Michael Jovich. She relays the conversation and her reaction to the audience.

Our Favourite Quote from ‘Promise — Winter 1917, Butte, Montana’:

Still, the anger swelled in me. Did he think he just said it and it’s done? Without talking to me? He knows I dread the idea of marriage. I don’t even know this Michael Jovich. But I promise to hate him. I will not respect a man who gets a wife under the disguise of tradition, treating her like so much chattel.

Erohtar Isnam is a poet with a specialist interest in fantasy, horror, and ‘occasional’ political blogs.

In ‘The Girl in the Mirror’, Erohtar explores her reflection as a little girl and as a grown woman …

Our Favourite Quote from ‘The Girl in the Mirror’:

I see a girl and she sees me back, we stand a meter apart, half one away from the mirror glass. We don’t recognize each other, a day far, a month or a year, we are two different women

‘I See You’ is an emotive and powerful response to mental health issues.

Our Favourite Quote from ‘I See You’:

I see you believing you will never be happy and I see you still trying to be. I see you struggling to sleep struggling to wake up I see those pills in your hand and I hear you calling for someone to stop you

K Joseph is not only a writer whose creativity ‘bursts’ from her but a Change Management Leader sharing her ideas to navigate through work and life.

‘What is She Wearing — I Mean, Really?!’ is a joyful take on high fashion versus ‘not even trying’ …

Our Favourite Quote from ‘What is She Wearing — I Mean, Really?!’:

My eyes ticked down the ensemble:

Fake, I’m sure, Gucci sunglasses;

A black cotton, cat-fur-covered, too-big, poor-excuse-for-a-blouse undershirt;

Her Victoria’s Secret lace bra is visible between her erect tit and her bare arm, I’m so sure she knew this subway car would be cold; and

Two Target recyclable bags weighing down her left shoulder.

Passarozumbido is a poet who’s also a ‘recovering perfectionist’. Here, queer, with nothing to fear, except when it comes to our four-legged friends …

Get the tissues out — ‘Second-Hand Grief’ is a poem relating the unexpected loss of a best friend’s cat …

Our Favourite Quote from ‘Second-Hand Grief’:

Suddenly. Bravo was ill, but he was recovering. Getting better. Fighting it out. Brave cat.
