Lush Amaryllis Blooms and Some Very, Very Good Dogs
Also, a jellyfish bauble and a miniature record-player

I received a box of cut amaryllis flowers — having grown loads of them in their bulb it always seems a bit odd to get them as cut flowers — but they developed nicely (see header), have lasted ages, and they are magnificent!
I still disapprove of the amaryllis bulbs that are covered in wax, though, as I’ve already whinged about here — I don’t like them at all. And that poor thing I had in April never did do anything and, in the end, I felt obliged to give it a decent burial.

It was the start of Advent this week so I got out my various calendars — none of them contain chocolate. This is one of my favourite ones above — it’s a miniature record-player with ‘discs’. You switch it on, put the ‘arm’ over, and it plays a burst of that day’s seasonal music, which could be a popular carol, traditional, or classical music.
The records all have a nostalgic-style vintage design.

Around the neighbourhood the Christmas roses people planted in their wall-pots are starting to flower. Lovely.

I’m beginning to get my Christmas decorations out and up, but it’s a slow business. Still, I’ve got out one of my favourite baubles — a jellyfish — and I’ve got wreaths on the inside doors, but not yet on the front door.
Next door has got his massive Christmas tree up in his bay window — it is so huge there is no room for anything else in his front room and he has to cut off the top of it to get it to stand up properly. I always suggest he cut a hole in the ceiling to save cutting off the top, but he’s never gone for that idea.

This is the time of year when doggos everywhere try their hardest to convince those who need to be convinced that they’ve been good dogs all year — indeed, that they’ve been very, very good dogs all year!

Oh, yes, this black lab is obviously a Very Good Dog.

PupperJack is so clearly a Very, Very Good Dog that he doesn’t need to make any special effort at all. You just have to look at him and it’s immediately apparent.
The rest of December always seems to disappear so rapidly, it must be the shortest month in the year. It must be explainable by physics.
It’s sad and glad at the same time. I love the build-up to the festive season, but it’s always coloured by the loss of people who feature in the happy memories of Christmases past.
Wishing you a lovely (and safe) pre-festive week!
