Winter-flowering Clematis; PupperJack Has Bed, Will Travel
Snowy-with-robin paintings

This is a fabulous plant (above and header photo). It is growing all over a massive fence down the road from us.
It’s a winter-flowering clematis.
Apparently, clematis is a symbol of peaceful thoughts and mental beauty. Sounds good to me! I’d better go and have another, very, very long look at it in the hope some of that rubs off onto me.

I don’t know what this is, but the berries look so ‘rich’, I couldn’t leave the photo untaken.

This is such a fab tree — it just sits there on the Bristol Downs and keeps an eye on everything. When we go over that side of Bristol we usually stop to say hello to this tree.

The leaves are still hanging in there, not willing to let go just yet. It will probably take an energetic storm roaring up the Bristol Channel to shake them loose before this tree greets the winter leafless.
PupperJack is always very interested in what’s dropped into the roots that grow above-ground. I don’t know if he’s yet found anything exciting in there, though. I’m not going to look too closely. (It could be anything.)

Above left, PupperJack is waiting outside the front of the house for the friend who will take us to the hospital and then stay in the car to keep him safe from dog thieves. He’s woofing: “Have bed, will travel.”
Above right is some artwork inside the hospital. I was going to have a look around and take pictures of some of the other artwork, but I was in and out so quickly there wasn’t the time. That must be the fastest trip I’ve ever had to a hospital.
PupperJack was quite put out — friend and him had only just got to where they were going when my text arrived saying I was ready to go home.
I’m not complaining.

Not surprisingly, all paintings at the moment are seasonal. Above left is a Border Collie listening to a robin sing.
Above right are four corgis who are convinced Robin is singing “treat, treat, treat” — they really want to know where the treats are.
(To be fair, it does sound a bit like “tweet, tweet, tweet”.)
I’m thinking I’ll write an article about How to Paint Snow. I had started one but kept forgetting to take the photos at each stage so I had to start a few more pictures.
This time I shall concentrate very, very hard and make sure to take photos at every stage …
Oh, yes, I will!
