DRABBLE STORY ARC #1: UNTIL LUCK RUNS OUT

Life As a Lizard-Village Guitar God

A choose your own adventure story — drabble edition!

Photo by Simon Weisser on Unsplash

Hello, and happy New Year! This is a continuation of “You Are Dead”, a “choose your own” fiction story (drabble edition) created by Bradan Writes Stories. It’s also a response to Hodgepodge Challenge — No 10 by Sweet Chaos. More on that below!

You can head back to the previous chapter ‘Note for Note’ by P. L. Goaway, or find out more about the publication and how to contribute here.

“Guitar battle it is!”

As you speak, a strat, how-to-play guidebook and amp appear.

“Let’s…”

*booooom*

The amp splits in half and explodes, and you find yourself transported to a strange village, peopled by lizardfolk.

“What the…?!?”

You grab the now-glowing guidebook, resolving to practise guitar until Death catches up with you.

Weeks pass. Soon, locals are watching, even clapping. They have terrifying pets that look like alligators but lick you like labradoodles. Your new fans bring you gekkota stew – it looks like mushed scales, but tastes like hot root beer.

Life is good here. Until suddenly, one day, you hear a chilling voice from behind:

“Found you at last…”

Continue.

Thanks for reading! As mentioned, this a response January’s ‘hodgepodge challenge’. Perhaps Morgan Schmidt or Sieran Lane would like to try the same challenge?

How’d I do?

Main constraint:
The consequences of a resolution cause someone to be famous (the protagonist resolves to practice guitar non-stop2 points).
Elements:
An accident of sorts transports you into another world (1 point)
A scary-looking beast is super friendly (1 point)
Something splits into two separate entities (the amp - 1 point)
You experience a new food/drink for the first time (1 point)
A glowing book (1 point)
Bonus:
1 point for continuing from a previous story.
1 point for including your pet in the story (sort of.. I have a labradoodle!)
Total: 9 points (and I stuck to 100 words 😅)

Feel free to continue this branch of the story, or add some choices for the character! And before you go, you can find more of my fiction here, as well as all of my advice and guidance on creative writing right here. Avoid missing a thing by getting all my posts direct to your inbox! 🧠
