Lenovo Is Creating Come Competition for the Steam Deck

Lenovo is making a Steam Deck competitor called the Legion Go.

So, in some of my earlier posts, I chatted about the awesome Steam Deck and other cool handheld gaming gadgets. If you wanna check those out, I’ll toss the links at the end of this post.

But hold on tight, ’cause today’s all about the Steam Deck again, and wait for it… Lenovo’s got a rival in the works called the Legion Go! Let’s dive in and see what these bad boys have in store!

What is the Steam Deck?

Okay, picture this: You know how you can play your favorite PC games on your computer or laptop, right? Well, Valve, the awesome folks behind Steam (the gaming platform), came up with this fantastic idea to take all that gaming goodness and pack it into a handheld device. That’s where the Steam Deck comes in!

Imagine having the power of a gaming PC, but it’s small enough to fit in your backpack or even your pocket. It’s like having a console on steroids! The Steam Deck looks like a cool blend of a Nintendo Switch and a beefed-up gaming laptop, and it’s here to give you the ultimate gaming-on-the-go experience.

Under the hood, this baby packs a punch! It’s equipped with a custom AMD processor that has a quad-core Zen 2 CPU and a powerful RDNA 2 GPU. Now, I know those fancy terms might sound like gibberish, but what it means is that you can run the latest games with impressive graphics right in the palm of your hand!

The Steam Deck features a gorgeous 7-inch touchscreen display, so you can dive into your games with stunning visuals. And hey, it’s not just for gaming! You can also use it for browsing the web, streaming videos, or even doing some light work (but c’mon, gaming is the real star here).

But wait, there’s more! The Steam Deck has different storage options, ranging from 64GB to 512 GB. And guess what? If you want to add even more games to your collection, you can pop in a microSD card for extra space — no worries about running out of room for all those awesome games.

Oh, did I mention the controls? This bad boy has built-in controllers on both sides of the display, just like a traditional console. You’ll find all the buttons, triggers, and joysticks you need for precise gaming.

And if you’re more comfortable with a mouse and keyboard setup, no problem! The Steam Deck has a USB-C port, so you can connect your favorite peripherals and play the way you like.

Lenovo is making a Steam Deck competitor?

Lenovo is getting in on the action in the handheld PC gaming world with their new baby called Legion Go. You know, they’re trying to take on the likes of Valve’s Steam Deck and ASUS’ ROG Ally, which have been killing it lately. And hey, there’s AYANEO in the mix too, can’t forget them!

Now, there aren’t too many deets out there yet, but word has it that Legion Go will be running on Windows 11. That’s good news for us PC gamers, ’cause it means smooth sailing when it comes to compatibility with our favorite games.

And guess what? They’re planning to pack some serious punch with AMD’s top-of-the-line Phoenix processors. Nice move, Lenovo!

We don’t have a precise launch date or anything, but there was a little leak earlier about Legion Play, an Android-based handheld they were working on. It never got a full-blown release, but it might give us a hint about what Legion Go could look like. Exciting stuff!

So, rumor has it that Legion Go will flaunt an 8-inch screen. Yep, that’s a bit bigger than the competition — Steam Deck and ROG Ally are stuck with 7-inch displays. A larger screen could be a big win for games that need a clear view of all those UI elements. Go big or go home, right?

Now, the heart of this beast is said to be the AMD Phoenix 7040 series chips. These babies are all about power efficiency, which means lightweight gaming and longer battery life, just like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. So you can game on the go without worrying about running out of juice.

You know what? It’s not just Lenovo in this race. Microsoft seems to be cheerleading for all the original equipment makers jumping into handheld gaming.

They’re gonna have their back, and some insiders think Lenovo might get a sweet slice of that support. But hold on, there’s more — Dell’s Alienware and other big PC gaming companies are prepping their handhelds too! The competition is heating up, folks.

Final Words

So there you have it, the scoop on Lenovo’s Legion Go.

We’ll have to wait a bit longer for all the juicy details, but one thing’s for sure: handheld gaming is taking off, and we’re all in for a wild ride!
