I’ve chatted about some cool TV series in the past, and you can find those links at the end of this post. Today, I’m gonna dive into the idea of mashing up two awesome superhero shows: Invincible and The Boys.

Fans of the action-packed superhero series, Invincible, are buzzing with excitement as the show gears up for its second season after a nail-biting two-and-a-half-year hiatus. And the real talk in town? The possibility of an epic crossover with none other than the infamous superhero misfits from Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys. Let’s break down the juicy details.

Now, while it’s guaranteed a crossover is in the works, showrunner Robert Kirkman, the mastermind behind Invincible, did drop a tantalizing hint during New York Comic-Con on October 14th. When a curious fan asked the million-dollar question:

“Could we see Invincible meet The Boys?”

Kirkman’s response was as cryptic as it was exciting. With a sly grin, he said:

“We could.”

No specifics, and no contracts signed in blood, but the mere notion of such a crossover sends shivers down the spines of die-hard fans.

But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Kirkman didn’t dish out any further deets because, well, it’s all still in the realm of possibility and imagination. He’s probably got his hands full ensuring Invincible Season 2 doesn’t make us wait as long as it did last time. After all, they don’t want to keep us on the edge of our seats for another two-and-a-half years!

Now, you might wonder, isn’t there a bit of a style clash here? Invincible is an animated show, while The Boys rocks the live-action vibe. But hey, don’t forget that The Boys dipped their toes into the animation world with ‘The Boys Presents: Diabolical.’ So, the idea of these two worlds colliding isn’t entirely off the table. Both shows have won hearts for their fresh, take-no-prisoners approach to the superhero genre.

The Boys peel back the curtain to reveal what superheroes would be like if they were real, and it ain’t pretty. They’d probably be celebrated like rock stars and be utter jerks behind closed doors.

Invincible, on the other hand, shows us that life as a superhero would pretty much suck because you’d lose most fights and put your life on the line. You’d also have to deal with all the emotional baggage of being a teenage superhero. So, they’re both dark and gritty in their unique ways, and that’s what makes them appealing.

But a crossover with The Boys is an entirely different beast. Here’s the thing: in the world of The Boys, superheroes aren’t born with powers. They’re juiced up with Compound V, turning them into the super-powered beings we see on-screen. This sets them apart from the natural-born superheroes in Invincible.

So, if the crossover happens, it’d be a study in contrasts — nature versus nurture in the superhero world. And let’s face it, we’d all love to witness the likes of Homelander and Omni-Man sharing the same screen. Sure, it happened in some video games, but seeing these two ‘Evil Supermen’ collide or, heaven forbid, join forces in live-action is a whole different thrill.

Final Words

The clock is ticking, folks. Invincible Season 2 is all set to premiere on November 3, 2023.

So, whether a crossover is in the cards or not, there’s no denying that the superhero universe is expanding, and fans are in for a wild ride.

Stay tuned, and let’s see if Invincible and The Boys will cross paths in a collision of epic proportions. Fingers crossed!
