Interview with Jith

One of my goals is to cross-pollinate writers and readers to create synergy and fusion on this platform. The purpose of this story is to share with you an interview that I conducted with Jith.

Sreejith Menath (Jith) is an experienced writer on ILLUMINATION and created his publication on Medium.

Jith supports our writers, engages with them meaningfully, and collaborates in our Slack channel. He has strong engineering, business strategy, and leadership background. I am connected with Jith on LinkedIn and follow his insights. In this post, I transcribed the responses Jith provided to my questions.

Let’s explore the background of this successful writer.

Tell us a bit about your background, Jith.

I am a mechanical engineer with a postgraduate degree in supply chain management and mobility (transport).

My industry experience spans across four industries: consulting, rolling stock, educational services, and electro-mechanical agro-machinery.

Currently besides freelance projects and coaching, I work as a consultant for business development. My passion projects are a platform leadership building for entry-career professionals and solution for providing enterprise intelligence with clear actionable end to end visibility.

I am passionate about what I share as content and try to keep it as original as possible.

Why do you write on Medium?

I choose Medium because it is the most diverse creative community currently existent on the web. It is easy to manage, easy to connect without hassles. You can easily launch your freelance writing brand.

I enjoy collaborating with other writers.

What are your values as a writer?

My values as a writer: authenticity and originality as against blindly trying to replicate popular cult and casual ramblings.

What are some of the best books affected your life?

Books: Ah! Hard to pick the best cherries from a garden that’s without boundaries!

Let me think a moment…I would say:

Who Am I (Ramana Maharshi), works of Hermann Weyl, writings of Jiddu Krishnamurti, Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, Freedom at Midnight, Animal Farm, Notes from Underground, works of Uta Hagen on acting, works of Hawkings and Penrose, works of Douglas Hofstadter and the list goes on. You better stop me!

What are your hobbies?

Hobbies? Fist of all, I am a travel freak.

I like to understand and learn about cultures around the world.

I am passionate about coaching, public speaking and acting for camera.

I like music, all forms. But in particular, BluesRock, progressive/psychedelic, Hindustani, and trance/electronic.

I also follow world cinema. My favorite works are of: Quentin Tarentino, Christopher Nolan, Andrei Tarkovsky, Fellini, Goddard to name a few. Few of my favorite performers are: Paul Muni, DeNiro, Vincent cassel, Al Pacino, Tom Hanks.

How do you connect with your readers?

I connect with my readers through freshness and uniqueness that I strive for in my stories. I try to present a signature style presentation and taking them through an intellectual journey.

Why did you join ILLUMINATION, and how do you find it so far?

I joined Illumination, primarily because of two reasons:

1 — The largest sub-community of creatives within Medium. No competition here!

2 — The generous support of the editing crew.

Editorial support certainly helps you with the reach you want on this platform. My journey with illumination has taught me a few cool things that I look up to and carry forward in my life.

Who are the top ten writers you follow on ILLUMINATION?

I follow many writers, especially on illumination but the stories by a few writers impressed me a lot. For example, Dean Middleburgh, Joe Luca, Cassie Kozyrkov, Tree Langdon, Stuart Englander, Geetika Sethi, Dew Langrial, Dr John Rose, Desiree Driesenaar, and Paul Myers MBA.

What are your top three stories that you want to share with your audience and why?

Here are my top three stories from my preference. I hope readers find them valuable.

What are the success factors for you as a writer on Medium?

Success-factors!

This is a challenging question for me.

To be frank, on this point, I’m on the path toward excellence. However, I have a long way to go.

What do you recommend to the new writers on ILLUMINATION?

My recommendation to new writers is this:

Never give up the journey, to keep on challenging your creative soul, and to stay connected and enrich your community.T

Writing is a process. It has a maturity curve. Make sure you appreciate this process and enjoy the journey.

What are your plans as a writer?

Through this platform, I aim to build a diverse and rich tribe of creatives and SMEs on multiple project levels and transform them into an influential, socially transformative team.
