  • A quality laptop stand is a necessary purchase for maintaining comfort and back health.
  • Noise-cancelling headphones are recommended for creating a distraction-free environment during calls.
  • Using a blue light filter, such as F.lux, can help adjust the screen's color according to the time of day, thus reducing eye strain and sleep disruption.

Remote workers will often settle with a simple work from home setup, but you need to change this.

Investing in your remote work accessories and set-up will better the quality of your working life, with immediate improvements to both your physical and mental health.

Working from home has many benefits from being cost-effective, convenient with no commute and better work-life balance. When you take all of that, plus a home office or remote work setup that is conducive to your work style, you’ll notice a huge difference in your productivity and accomplish your biggest goals.

Here are 5 ways to upgrade your home office:

1. Natural light: Try to sit by the window or somewhere that offers plenty of natural light. Working from a room that is poorly lit can lead to fatigue, eye strain and stress. If you have no choice, take plenty of breaks throughout the day and spend time outdoors daily.

2. Laptop stand: An absolute must for overall comfort and more importantly your back. Spend money on quality as the cheap ones will break sooner rather than later.

3. Noise-cancelling headphones: This makes a huge difference when having a call, helps to limit your distractions. Make sure the headphones you choose, whether wired or wireless, sit comfortably on or in your ear.

4. Blue Light Filter: Download F.lux. This tool makes the colour of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day. Flux is designed to reduce eye strain during night-time use, helping to reduce the disruption of sleep patterns.

5. Keyboard & Mouse: It’s a personal preference on brand but I highly recommend wireless as it’s less wasted time untangling cables and if you’re a nomad, then it’ll save you space when packing. Check out comfortable ergonomic mouse pads too, as they could prevent any wrist pain.
