REMOTE WORKING

Cowork Space or Work from Home?

Work remotely from a co-working space or stay in the comfort of your own home — here’s a list of pros & cons for you to decide.

When working remotely, we often feel comfortable working from our own home (or our RemoteBase) and our well-defined routine almost makes us feel that if we were to work outside in co-work, we wouldn’t be anywhere near as productive as we are at home, in our own space. However, if you’ve never tried working from a co-work space, it may be different from the expectations you already have.

Coworking spaces have gained plenty of traction since the rise of remote working, a new way of working which is a lot cheaper than the traditional fixed office spaces with high monthly rental costs.

Flexible commitments over an annual rental agreement mean employees get the best of both worlds. Looking for a change of scenery after being stuck at home, then a co-work space is a great place to work from for the day, especially for collaboration purposes.

Flexibility means you can choose a way of working that suits you.

Pros of Co-working

  • You’ll get to network with like-minded motivated individuals.
  • Coworking spaces often run dedicated networking sessions or socials, where you can really get to the diverse community
  • Reduce your loneliness with a new community of co-workers
  • Swanky office space, with an awesome atmosphere (some even have a rooftop terrace)!

Of course, there are some of the cons, and if they outweigh the pros for you then it’s fine to continue working from home — it’s about finding what works best for you.

Cons of Co-working

  • Noisy surroundings can be distracting; there may not always be a spare call booth.
  • Monthly costs (more expensive than continuing to pay your bills a home)
  • Distractions — more people to network with, means more distractions
