POEM: REPLENISHMENT
In the Quiet Hours, All Alone
What do you fill in your spaces of empty silence?
In the vacant hours of a quiet afternoon the clock ticks with a monotonous beat
I measure my breath in a reactionary time the space between fill and empty grows wider
The period between welcomes release and relaxation a new cycle where the mind travels and the body follows
I gather the available seconds, no longer stored away beyond fateful and unsettled days in feverish time to fade
I pull up the soft padding beneath my tired feet and deconstruct the acoustic panels holding it all in
Beyond the cave, my path is unknown but already named where basking in the boredom builds lullabies
Where introductions open invitations, no formality to keep Waving morning hellos to strangers and every neighbor
The clock won’t stop, but with it, laughter will collide I strain but can hear deep inside my quiet afternoon
Listen. What do you hear? Can you see what calls you? Thank you for reading my poem on replenishment.
